Okay so today I received a craigslist app alert and when I checked it out, thinking here comes more modded xbox crap, I saw a Midnight Marauders listed for $20. I clicked the ad and it was for a gutted cab very local to me.

Since the girlfriend was at work, I was off work, and it was only $20 bucks, I gave the guy a call. 10 minutes later I was on my way to pick up the cab.

I gave the guy $20 bucks, loaded up the cab, and off I went heading home.

Now, I have never even heard of this game before but at $20 I will consider most anything. The cab is actually in decent shape, the side art is torn off a little on the right side by the control panel and peeling back a bit on the left side by the control panel. Other than that it is just the usual dings here and there. The particle board is also doing its usual crumbling thing around the bottom edges a bit but not bad. The backdoor is a bit crumbly around the edges.

However, except for the glass bezel (which is missing 85% of the artwork that the bezel is supposed to have) and the speaker, this cab is Capital G Gutted!

After a quick search on FAPS and youtube, I found out that this game was made by Bally in 1984, is an EM arcade, and less than 100 were made :(. I am betting all of my chips that the parts for this game are pretty much unobtainium. That said, is it worth restoring? Is a restoration even possible?

EDIT: F@#$ING dag nabbit. I posted this in the wrong restoration forum... Please move this and I'm sorry.

I would grab a gun from a positional shooter like Crossbow, T2 or that Aerosmith game and rig it up with a mame gun rig. The cabinet is exactly the right shape and type for it.

I would say it is an impossible restore because you would have to buy another machine just to do it, and chances are pretty high that this one was stripped down because someone already put two complete ones together to make one good one.

Yeah, good for parts only. I'm restoring one of these bad boys and it has a million parts in it. It's the Frankenstein love child of an upright arcade machine and an EM.
