Hi!

I need your advice regarding the replacement of the original weak knocker from Gorgar. I would like to replace it with the much stronger Bally one (like in 6 Million Dollar Man). Would it be compatible?

Williams coil : SA2-23-850/DC (resistance = 5.3 ohms / 23 wire gauge)
Bally : AR-26-1200 (resistance = 10.8 ohms / 26 wire gauge)

I will install it horizontally on the side of the case like in the Bally pinball. I can't do it with the original because there is no spring et stopper with the plunger.

Thanks for your advice !

It's not going to work. In this case the difference in the knocker volume is due to the voltage being used. Ballys use 43v, the WMS Gorgar uses 28v. The reason the coils are different is due to the different voltages. If you put the Bally knocker in the Gorgar it will actually be weaker.

There's not a great way to make the Gorgar knocker louder. You'd have to increase the voltage (and change the coil). Not really easy to do.

My Williams Flash was missing the knocker. I fitted the proper coil into a modern knocker bracket, mounted a strike plate under the playfield support rail & relocated the knocker. It's LOUD! The strike plate is just a Stanley plate from Lowes or Home Depot.
