A guy at work has been wanting me to come over for a couple months to look at his Bally Gold Ball machine. The right flipper works fine, but the left flipper will only work when the right flipper is engaged.

I have not troubleshot many flipper issues and I checked the lugs for connection with the DMM. On the right coil I could get connectivity on the outside lugs, but on the left the rightmost lug with the thinnest wire would not beep when touched to any other lug. I cut the wire and stripped the resin off it and soldered it back on, but had no luck. I replaced the diodes on the coil and nothing. I am going to order a new coil, but was wondering if I am missing something else to check. I bet I should of cleaned the EOS switches.

Recap:
Right flipper works fine
Left flipper will only work when right flipper is engaged.
No continuity on the thinnest wire power lug to any other lug.

sorry to bump.... but I offer a pic of a lady dressed as bride of pinbot to make up for it.

The two flippers are wired independently of each other so the one being engaged for the other to work is probably coincidence.

Start at the left flipper button switch. Is it clean? Properly gapped? Good solder on the lugs?

Next look at the EOS on the left flipper, same as above. The EOS is probably worn out or not making good contact and probably when the other flipper fires it gets jolted and works.

Went over to look at it again for a little bit. The flipper switches and EOS switches gor a clean, but they are hella messed up. I used alligator clips to connect the flipper buttin in case the contacts were too corroded to connect, but no luck.

Pulled the driver board and checked all the TIP 102s. all tested fine. Will change the coil out next time I am over there. Any other suggestions?

Went over and swapped out the coil. Still no luck. The low coil will hold, but no high power side. And now the left pop bumper will fire every now and then when the left flipper is pressed.

The transistor at Q30 was reading strange, but I guess that is a lamp transistor.

I would start by tracing back the power and keep checking it with a Multi meter. They should be trigger by a relay when a game starts. My guess is you either hav a wire issue or the othe issue might be a ground issue.
