I've got a 2-player Demolition Derby. It plays fine, but with one issue. Player 2's car is blue (same as the "computer"), as opposed to red. The machine is not missing the color red...all player 2 text is red, the title/splash screen has red, etc. This is a MCR three board stack, not the mono-board. I ran the ROMs through Romident. Four ROMs on the CPU board came up as unknown. The locations are 1C, 2C, 3C, and 4C...and the Bally labels are Pro1, pro2, pro3, and pro4. Looking through the MAME-Maws info, nothing matches this configuration. My CPU board isn't the "normal" MCR III CPU that I've seen before....It's a bit smaller than the MCR III CPU a la Spy Hunter. Plus, this board isn't labeled MCR III CPU....it's stamped 5MHz CPU. It does seem to match the PDF manual online----not that I can actually read that. My Video Gen. board doesn't match the manual. Mine is the standard MCR III video gen board (a la Spy Hunter). All other ROMs checksummed to the four player board set.

So, any ideas? Could this be a factory screw up they let out the door...or am I looking for a needle in a haystack. Thanks!

Pro = Prototype? What color is player 1? Also blue? I assume the score/health meter is updating for the red player when you're driving this blue car.

I first thought prototype...but, the maws lists two ROMs labeled Pro0 and pro1 for the upright mono-board.....and three ROMs labeled pro, pro1, and pro2 for the four-player. My board has four ROMs (pro0, por1, pro2, and pro3)...all checksum "unknown"

When I start a two player game....six cars are onscreen. Player 1 is blue, player 2 is blue, and the four computer cars are...2 blue and 2 green.

Health/score meter, etc is red for player 2...even though the car is blue.

If I start a 1 player game, same thing...except now the computer has 2 green and 3 blue cars (basically, the computer now controls what would be the blue player 2 car).
Oh yeah, player one is blue.

I've seen a 3 and 4 ROM setup on the CPU MCR PCB's.
One had a PRO 0,1,2
the other had PRO 0,1,2,3

Both boardsets worked....

Did/do you have a two player or four player? If two player, do you remember/know if player two's car was blue?...or red?

Thanks!

DL the 2 player ROMs and start them in MAME to see what the cars are supposed to be.

BTW, I'm guessing the game is from IN right? If its from who I'm thinking of I actually did the MAME thing for him on my PC. I want to say it was pointed out the cars were indeed different (correct??) in MAME. Its been a while so my mind is a bit fuzzy on the specifics.

Yeah, it's Tony's.
Four of my ROMs arn't in MAME....at least, from what I've can found. And all six ROMs on my CPU board doesn't match the 2-player version in MAME, though, two ROMs match the four player version.

I have both the 4 player and the 2 player PCB's (Both are MCR type). The 1 player's car is blue, and the 2 players car is red.
