I've been poking around in this machine for about an hour, and I'm getting nowhere.

When you fire it up, the solenoid for player 1, score position 1 fires off, and stays energized. If I hand crank the positional switches (the name escapes me at the moment) and you insert a coin, the game will go to reset, but as soon as these reach their home position, the coil energizes and goes on until you turn the power off.

I don't have the machine here, so I'll have to go by memory on any questions.

i have this very game;had same issue and a lot more, it turned out that the "switch" was to be in the open possition not closed it was just a simple thing but it keeped me baffled. most of the issues i had with this game were just that. switches open not closed vis versa. i stubled across that while cleaning the contacts,i had the game pluged in and on i was just was so fustrated i didnt shut it down stupid thing to do i know but... the game plays great now and i play it more then my shuffle inn.

IIRC I checked that reel against the others to make sure the switches were in the position they were supposed to be in and they were fine. Next time I'm in front of it I'll double check it.

the swiches under the playfield are where i found the problems. if you havent already looked, well your in for a treat lol. mine were all hanging down and loose.

Bally ABC Deluxe Bowler 6 Player

Hi:
Great forum so thought I'd give this a shot.
I have a problem with the machine as far as skipping frames and after the first puck is thrown and you leave a pin or two,it automatically resets as if you threw the second shot.
Sometimes it skips bowlers (frames) maybe 1 or 2 frames. This can happen on one bowler playing or six, seems like it doesnt matter. You can hear the mechanics working under the shuffle table( as there are relays under the alley as well as in the backboard) when this happens. Seems like as if something gets hung up and just omits the second shot and or frame . The scoring does add up correctly. For an example if I throw the fisrt puck down the alley and leave a pin or more,it will not let me shot again and the pins automatically reset as if I did throw the second shot. However if I leave one pin after the first shot,it will give me a 9 pin count then reset as if I threw the second shot. This does not happen everytime, same as the frames skipping. I might be on frame 1,2,3, etc it doesnt matter. It will skip 1,2, sometimes 3 frames for a single bowler or more players. This "skipping" has been done on the all frames ,even on the 10th frame. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Tom

sounds like a good cleaning would help. i know it seems like a blanket answer but realy it does clear up many problems. just take your time. grab a couple of beers, your gonna be there awhile lol

Bally Shuffle Bowler

Beers I can handle.
After cleaning about 1/3 of the relays(contacts) Now I discovered the button I use on the front panel to start the games, doesnt do it now!! ( Not the on /off switch at the bottom.)

The button which is located in the front coin panel is like free play and the machine coin guts arent even in it. You push the normally open button switch to start one plyer then push another time for 2 players ,etc, etc.

Now I cant even get the machine to reset to bowl a game. All I pick up is the "coin" relay....nothing else.!!

Maybe I better get a case of beer or two.
A good cleaning I agree with.
Thanks!

Before cleaning all the relay contacts you should concentrate on cleaning the stepper units. Once you get all the steppers working correctly you'll find a lot of your problems have been resolved.

Bally Shuffle Bowler

I assume you mean the steppers underneath the playing field, because the steppers in the backglass only have to do with scoring and pin count?
Thanks for the first reply.
I never touched the steppers in the back glass yet,if I have to then so be it.
Games seems to improve ( not skipping frames us much as before) after cleaning 50 % of relays and steppers and such underneath the playing field.Still not home yet.

All the steppers need to function smoothly.

I don't have the deluxe, I have the ABC Bowler, and the Player-Up stepper and the Frame stepper are both in the backbox.

Do you have the manual and schematics for yours?

Bally Bowler

Yes, I have a wiring diagram ,wouldnt call it a schematic though.
It does identify things but if you dont know what controls what it's kinda useless.
Thanks!
