Howdy. I posted about this game previously because it wouldn't start and I was having trouble finding a replacement coil. That bit has been resolved (yay!), but now it has a new issue (boo).

Everything seems to work perfectly fine if I trigger the pin switches by hand, whereas if you throw the puck the game stops responding. When it happens the game won't even let you restart it by pressing the Start button, I have to open it up and reset it manually. We're definitely throwing it a little harder than normal because there's very little sand on the lane (we didn't want to make a mess since I keep having to open it) and I'm assuming this issue is being caused by the force of the impact. My guess is that the force is causing a held/locked relay to unlock, but it's very difficult for me to reproduce the issue while having access to the relays since you have to flip the lane up to access them. It seems like the "Double Cycle" relay may play a role here as manually activating it causes very similar behavior. I can't get to the bottom of it though... has anyone seen this before or know what I'm missing?

It recognizes your first puck. I see a light flash on your second puck. It is not recognizing the end of the frame. I do not believe that your issue is the rollover switches.

I agree. Especially since I have another clip of me just running my hand across the switches with it consistently working.

From watching the video:

Looks like it is slam / tilt locking the game out to me. When the puck hits the back, the playfield lights go out. That's usually TILT/SLAM - you are playing too hard, you lose your quarter.

Where do you have your slam / tilt switches set? If they are very conservative, back them off.

Y'know, that makes perfect sense, particularly considering the extra strong throw. I thought I checked them but now that you're mentioning it I feel like I'm not certain. I think I'll see if the owner feels comfortable giving those a look himself.

I meant to ask, do you have any other thoughts if that isn't the issue? The game is about 45 minutes away from me so it would be good to be prepared with backup ideas to try.

That's what I see. That, or a wire in that circuit shorting to ground.

I'd find the tilt mechanism/ slam switches, and block them ALL. Then see if it repeats.

If it doesn't, it's in the slam/tilt. If it does, it's something else.

Got it. Thanks. I'll definitely report back once I get back out there.
