Hello all slot experts,

I am far from one. But have 25 years experience in the Pinball/Video game industry as a tech.

I bought my first project slot. Says in the manual that if the 2 led's on the main pcb are lit, the board is in a "reset state" call a senior technician for help.

How do I get it out of this "reset state" ????

I did it once by accident and then got a "82" code on the win meter. I haven't been able to get it back to that since.

Thanks in advance,
Dave.

yes, I know about newlife. I figured I try the experts here first.

I did get the code 82 off there by pressing the " jackpot reset " keyed switch on the side of the machine. Then it comes up with codes 52 and 56 to close the front door. When I do the 82 appears back on the display.

I don't have the key for the reset switch, so I can't turn it while the door is closed. Could this be my problem ? Is all I need just the key ?

Anyone know the type ( Chicago, Fort etc. ) key and possibly the number on it ???

Thanks again,
I feel like I'm getting somewhere.

Dave.

New Life Games is where the professional slot techs hang out. That's _the_ place to go for slot machine help/parts/manuals.

YEap. I agree. Ironically, NO ONE there has been able to come up with a Bally 5000+ Senior Technicians TroubleShooting Guide though. According to the main 5000+ Operations Manual, there is such an animal.

I'll call a few of my friends in Las Vegas who are/were slot techs. Perhaps they can help locate it.

Sounds great. According to the original Operators manual for the 5000+, the manual I'm looking for is:

BALLY 5000 PLUS Training and Troubleshooting Manual
Part# Fo-5000-1

Thanks a bunch !
Dave.

I have a 5000 that I managed to get working. First, make sure your MPU board doesn't have any corrosion on it around the battery and that your battery is good. Second, what you'll need to do if you don't have a reset key is to drill out the lock so that you can use the reset while the machine is closed.
When I first power on my system I get the code 82...from there I have the door open and use my reset screwdriver (lol) and then code 52/51 will come up. Close the door and credits should goto 0 and then start playing.
Inspect the MPU board really good and look for anything funny, you may want to try some contact clearner on the mother board and the MPU board and reset it several times to help clean the connection.
