Both of the gas pedals on my Badlands (project) game did not work. I opened up one of them, and this is what I found.

What should this actually look like? To me it looks like there is a sensor there on the bottom, and some sort of boot that had another sensor on top that has melted or something.

HELP!!!

from your picture, it appears that the rubber post (or actuator) has seperated from the top of your pedal unit & is now stuck on the bottom of the unit, you can see the round pressure sensitive device glued to the bottom of the pedal & that gooey thing stuck sort of on top of it should be fixed to the top of the pedal and when depressed should smash down on the pressure sensitive device, easy but crappy at same time,

try sticking it back on the top pedal centered above the sensor & see if it still works, one of mine failed years ago & i replaced both with road blaster style pedals, i threw out both of the original units since i could not find replacement parts (really didn't look too hard)

good luck Kenny

or actually you could just center it over the sensor and the out come would be the same either way.

It looks like it melted like caramel all over the place actually. The part over the sensor is very thin...

Not sure what happened, allmost looks like it was in a fire, but the cab shows no fire dammage. The game just had a bad flyback... now that I have that fixed it's just minor cosemetics and the gas pedals.... It looks like I may need to replace them as I do not think the parts for these are available.

Not sure if I can replace them with a regular pot style pedal, I will have to experiment I guess.

worked for me so yes, you can replace them with pot type pedals, yes you will have to experiment with the connections - repeatedly.

good luck, kenny

Those sensors are hard to find. I don't even have them in my stash and I have thousands of Atari parts.
