I am not a happy camper... not at all.

Now what the hell do I do? If I try to remove the side art I am pretty damn sure some paint is going to come with it.... that is IF I can get it off without having to SCRAPE it off...

I'm open to suggestions? It's simply to acceptable this way. I'm about to shoot out an email to where I bought it and I am sure they'll replace it... but as far as it being already installed... I'm screwed.

I'm not as picky/anal as most so take this for what it's worth... I'd just install the new sideart on top of it. :dunno:

That might be the only solution... one I am not too keen on as it WILL make it thicker... but I think that's probably the solution with the least potential for screw up.

Take it off, sand, primer and paint. Reapply new.

Not too keen on this idea... I just spent a number of hours sanding, priming and painting the damn thing already and I HATE sanding...hate it...

I doubt the seller is going to pay me for the extra couple hours it would take to re-friggin'-sand, prime and paint...

Your machine, you have to live with the results.
Sorry to hear about a bad print job. Who's was it? I would assume one, but let you out it. Never heard of (or seen) this issue before, bought a couple sets myself.

I'll admit I haven't payed much attention to the side art of punchout, but is the red on the original as badly offset as it is on the repro you have? I think that would bother me more than the scratches.

Yeah... I didn't notice that really until I took a good look at the screw up... then I compared it to my other repro and it's the same. Lemme look at my original art on the camera...

i'd go ahead and take it off asap. The less time its on there, the easier it'll be to remove.

depends on how long ago this was painted and how good. If the paint is fully cured you should be able to use a heat gun to remove the art. Be careful not to focus the heat on the paint too long or it will likely bubble up. The art is new so it's not likely it's stuck on there like original art could be. Your call though. If you mess it up you would have to sand and repaint to make it look good again. Placing the art over the top would not be a bad option just be sure it lies exactly on top of the other art otherwise you will see the edge of the art beneath and you may still not be happy with how it looks.

EDIT: Nope... it appears these are pretty lousy friggin' repro's. My last Punch Out cab had no side art on it when I got it to compare it to... had I known they were so lousy I'd have had them inkjetted at mamemarquees.com... at least they'd be straight...

No... I am sure where I got it... and I just checked and 1 side of my other punch out is PERFECT... the other side has similar issues with the red screen being slightly off... not quite as bad as this one...

The 2nd cab has one side that is just about PERFECT (the other side of the cab I posted the picture above).... and then this side with the screen being off AND the dirty screen I posted above....

So out of 4 pieces of silk screened artwork from this same vendor, 2 were just about perfect (or close enough to very happy), 2 were screened with the red offset a bit (one worse than the other slightly) and of those 2, 1 had the dirty screen issue posted above.

I've been nothing but completely satisfied with this vendor in the past and I am sure they will make good on this issue... I am not sure what they will do (if anything) about the off-set screen from my prior purchase a couple months ago as I just noticed it an hour ago when the offset issue was pointed out in this thread.

I also got my CPO from them and I just installed it... it's perfect.

I'll leave the name of vendor out of this thread for now until I have a chance to hear from them... though I am sure most of you already know who it is as they're the only source for silk-screened repro Punch Out artwork that I am aware of.
