And I don't mean damaged art, I mean flat out poorly conceived or executed artwork for a game that is fun to play. The yin to Kangaroo's yang.

I nominate Golden Axe. Really good gameplay, in game graphics were excellent for it's day and it was popular enough to be in lots of locations.

And then they slap this steaming pile of a marquee on it. What Trapper Keeper did Sega copy that off of?

I kind of liked Golden Axe.

Usually the games that were severely lacking in artwork are the ones I nominate. These are usually the ones most fans will break down and make their own custom stuff to make the game pop. Arkanoid and Bubble Bobble come to mind.

Correction. This is not bad... it's BAD ASS.

Agreed. Love the Gyruss stencil!

I hate game art where the company decided to just bail out on it. I would say the majority of kit games were like this. Heavy Barrel comes to mind. Awesome game IMO, but the Data East logo for side art and the cp? Weak sauce.

Rockola Eyes. I love this game, but what's with the tiny side art? And what's with the dirty white sides? And what's with the goofy-assed cartoony marquee? And what's with the basic CPO? Zaccaria got it right on their version, but the Rockola version sucks more dick than Fritz on Furlough.

Does Pinball count? If so, as a Chun-Li fan I have to deride the backglass. Who the heck though this was a good look???
(I hear the game itself is good but look at that art work!)

This is what I am talking about. How does art that would get a D in any college level art course wind up on a pin? Looks like the guy spent all his time drawing bum cheeks and skipped the rest of Human Figure 101.
