Back for more pinball fun. Black Pyramid switch issues
Hey all, I am back for more pinball repair fun. Done with school for now, and I have not gotten a call back on a full-time job yet, so I have plenty of time to play with my pinballs again.
Only problem is, my machines are all fixed up now and I have no money to spend on new machines.
Solution? Offer free local pinball repair. I get to continue working on some pins, and get more experience with my pinball repair and customer service/in-home service skills.
I have been falling back on the pinrepair.com guides with much success when I can't figure something out, but I have ran into a problem on a Black Pyramid machine.
The back left rollover switch is not working. I tried jumpering around the switch cap and diode, but it still does not work. I checked the switches before and after along the daisy chains, but all other switches work fine.
I would like to try jumping the connectors directly on the MPU board (Will try that next time im with the machine), but I also noticed that the switch test is not working at all. When in the switch test, and pressing a couple switches down, no switch numbers will show up on the ball display.
On a possibly related note, when playing the game normally, sometimes a switch will seem to be stuck on, and the score will continue to increase on its own. Eventually it will become unstuck on its own. I tried pressing all switches and checking to see if one is stuck closed, cannot find one. (I would use the switch test to check which it THINKS is stuck, but again, the switch test shows nothing)
I will try and start checking resistors/diodes/caps on the MPU board that are concerned with the switches, but does anyone have any hints as to what would be causing a single switch in the middle of the matrix stop functioning?
