Hey all Baby Pacman and Virtual pinball lovers, I know there are other sets of directions for how to do this out there, but after trying for several hours following step by step directions, I still couldn't get it running. It turns out none of them mentioned a crucial step, so I'm writing this as clear as possible.
NOTE: I'm running Windows XP SP3
Download:
Virtual pinball 9.1.2 Full install, if not upgrading
pinmame 2.3
VBS scripts
All 3 can be found at: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?automodule=downloads&cmd=viewcat&cat_id=5
Baby Pacman Tables (http://www.pinballnirvana.com/UpDownload-req-viewsdownload-sid-37.html)
ROMs, download both PinMAME Romset, and PinMame Romset-Home version (http://ipdb.org/search.pl?any=baby+pac&search=Search+Database&searchtype=quick#125)
Install:
Virtual pinball 9.1.2
pinmame 2.3
Unzip VBS scripts (extract to "Tables" folder created in vpinmame directory)
Place Baby Pacman Tables (only 1 file) into same "Tables" folder (as above in vpinmame directory)
And now the ROMs. Both zipped ROM files (PinMAME Romset, and PinMAME Romset-Home version) need to be placed in the "roms" folder in the vpinmame 23 directory IN ZIPPED FORMAT (DO NOT UNZIP)----this is the step that all other guides left out, none of them mentioned that BOTH zip files need to be in the "roms" folder.
To check if things are working correctly:
You can open up your vpinmame 23 directory, and find the "VPinMAMETest" folder. Click on VPinMAMETest, use dropdown menu to select "babypacn", click on "Pathes", and make sure that your ROMs path is set to your "roms" folder in the vpinmame 23 directory. Once confirmed, click on "check ROMs" and everything should pass with an "OK State". You can also click the "Start", but you won't be able to play the game because the pinball section is NOT loaded up. So...
To Play:
Launch Vpinball912, go to file, click and open the "Baby Pacman (Bally 1982) VPT" file in your "Tables" folder in your vpinmame 23 directory. Click the play icon, and be patient, it may take 10-20 seconds or so to get the video portion up and running (it will do it by itself). At this point you should also be hearing the game sounds as the "arcade" boots up. Press F2 for key/control settings.
Enjoy!
