You're absolutely right Lindsey. Thanks for the help.

I was finally able to solve the problem. I started by unplugging the wire in the J1 connector on the solenoid board that ran both the lamps. Since they both remained on, and still brighter than the others that were working correctly, I figured that the wiring must be the issue.

My thinking was that once unplugged, and still on, that they were acting like the surrounding playfield lights that are always on (the ones attached only to the ground braid), because they were now only powered by the ground braid.

Sure enough, I replaced the entire wire across both lamps, and to the solenoid board, and the problem was solved.

Does anyone know if my thinking on this is correct?

Next time, I'll start by pulling the darn wire!

Hey Mike,

You should really start a thread for this in the pinball section as well. Get some more opinions.

Have you checked the diodes across the lamps? That would be my first guess. Beyond that I would look at the SCRs that drive those lamps.

Hi how are you doing?

I don't mean to bother you, but I'm having an issue with some stuck on lights, and I'm wondering if you have the time to help. I have read the entire thread discussing this topic, and have covered everything mentioned, but they are still stuck on.

The two lights are wired together of course. They are the Left spinner arrow (red) and the "L" in the word "Tunnel". I have replaced the diodes on both lamp sockets twice, both 1N4007, and the corresponding 2N5060 scr at Q4, also twice.

When they are stuck on, they are brighter than all of the other lights. When I run the lamps test, these 2 lights actually dim to the light level of all the other lights.

Could it be 1 or 2 bad light sockets under the playfield?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Mike.
