I recently acquired a Baby Pac, and absolutely love it. When it's first turned on, it operates correctly, but after being on for an hour or so and things are warmed up, it fails. Usually the failure shows up as the cherries bouncing across the monitor when you're supposed to be playing the videogame portion of the game, and then there's not much you can do to get it fixed other than shutting it down for a long while and letting everything settle down...

When I got the machine, the battery on the PCB was severely corroded - I cut that off, cleaned up the board to try to stop the corrosion, and replaced it with a battery socket and new rechargeable 3.6V battery. I cleaned up a few of the resistors that were on the edge of the corrosion, and all that appears to be working OK...

When the machine gets glitchy, running through the test menu shows some communication errors in both columns. Any ideas on what is happening as the machine is warming up???

Thanks,
Dave

Even after it fails, I still get 10 flashes on the Vidiot board and 6 flashes on the MPU board. Is this a connection somewhere? I can access a video test screen, but the game will not display on the screen after overheating. Has anyone seen this before???

I had problems with mine and it would bounce the cherrys across the screen sometimes. It ended up being some bad sockets on the vidiot board. They looked fine but once I started removing them the corroded legs were obvious. I ended up replacing all the sockets on the mpu and vidiot board.

Thanks - I'll pull those and give them a closer look. As you mentioned, they do look fine from the top and bottom of the board...

The MPU of that game is famous for bad connector pins on both sides of the board. Even if this does not correct you bouncing cherries it is the first place I would go to bullet proof operation for the future.
