The dip switches don't do much to make it easier to play per man. They mostly prolong the game with extra men, extra bonuses, etc. Some will persist items from man to man like the pinball status. You certainly want to put it on the easiest settings to start. If the tubes to the pinball are open, go play pinball. That is where you get the powerups to help make the maze more playable. The mazes are hard and none of the settings will help you stay alive in the maze. The only exception might be the one to open the side tubes by default.

In the Test mode setup, you need to set a few options in there. I think these are the settings to use.

Specials Mode: "03"
High Score Mode: "01"

that sucks... this game is SO hard to play - its almost not even fun.
I had hoped there would be dip switches to make the pac play a little easier...

The dip switches do help. You can set it for the first three letters of fruit and tunnel to be lit. there are other settings to make it easier to get extra men that prolong the game. If your talking about the video game play then your just going to have to practice, remember these machines were meant to make money not give it away.

I know what you mean. The maze is just so damn hard. I still have never got past the 3rd maze. Haven't played it in a while for that reason which is why it might be put up for sale.

Just keep after it. The third is the hardest maze to master. The fourth is the fist maze. The game is hard, but it does get easier. I guess I should say that you will get better. On maze seven, some of the walls will be invisible. It is a vey challenging game, but I think it is very fun. Good luck.

Haha, he said maze 7! I own the game and I cant get past the third one. That game is extremely hard, thats why it wasnt so popular....quarter eater.

the trick is to get good at the pinball part of it. Then use the escapes to dash back to the video, and eat just a little of whichever side your on, then go back to pinball and keep building your power pellets back up. Having extra baby's turned on helps a ton, too. The only downside is you can only get as many baby's as you lose on any particular level.

My wife can get to level 10. I have only gotten to level 7 and died right before 8. I got close to breaking 1 million and she has gotten past that. I am much better at the pinball than she is so I don't have to get as high on the levels to score the same. Get good at the pinball and the mazing will come with practice.

There has to be some maze guides out there somewhere, I think it's a real hard game but also real fun. I don't think I've ever cleared screen two.

I know there's places to sit that'll cause the ghosts to go to certain places, but the ghosts don't have the same type of AI patterns like Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man. They seem to randomly switch directions at their whim.

I didn't count the levels but It had to be 12 or so for me. I know they all get partially invisable. 1.7 million is my high score. My wife has got to 1.6 million. You have to be good at the pinball and get your power pellets then build it back up to one letter from getting the power pellets again and go back to video , that way you can gobble up as much as possible then go back to pinball and you can get the power pellets back quick. same thing with the extra man.

But once you go to the pin, the chutes close and you can't go back until the next board or you die. Or is there a setting that changes this behavior?

Why would you want to change it? That's the challenging part of the game!

I personally like this game because it is a good challenge. It's a kick ass game and I miss playing mine. It's in the garage until the spring. :(

When your in the pin if you put the ball in one of the kick out hole when lit it will let you go back to the video and you can gobble some dots and still go back to pinball. I find the game quite easy at times and I'm starting to get a little bored with it. Thinking of selling mine.

This thread is making me laugh a bunch. Have had my BPM for a bit over a month and it is the most challenging machine, frustratingly so. I had hardly any pacman experience before I got it. Maybe 5 games of mrs pacman over the last decade and very few before that. I always thought it was a bit lame. I jumped on this machine because it was so unique and had never played it before. This was the one that got the wife a bit bummed on my renewed gaming obsession. I got a good deal on it, and it just intrigued me so much. Got it home and it started making me mad right away. I love it.

I have the 5 guys and all other settings as easy as possible. I have it on free play, but I never seem to be able to get the extra guys with the blue drop target. Maybe that is messing with it.

I have been honing my maze skills a bunch lately. Skipping the pin part to concentrate on getting better. I had a party last week and two folks who are really god at pacman rocked the machine. I saw some of their tricks and it has helped a bunch. I have made it back to the 1st maze once (4th screen) and now know you can hide from the ghosts and to challenge them every now and then to get them to follow you.

I finally got to play one of my friends mrs pac and holy cow it is so much different. I made it through 3 screens on one guy. Those ghosts play so much nicer.

The game continues to challenge me and I love it for that. I had a huge long game on Bride of Pinbot a couple days ago and hit 56 million. It was getting kind of boring though. Baby pac keeps me interested every time I play it. Most times I die I know exactly what I did wrong and learn from it. Can't wait to see an invisible wall.

Having extra baby's turned on helps a ton, too. The only downside is you can only get as many baby's as you lose on any particular level.

That is interesting. Might be my problem.

I'm not sure his statement was worded as well as it could be. You can win one extra baby pac-man. It is like a "replay" for the one guy that your playing with when you win it. So say you have 5 guys, you advance the center arrows and win a free baby. You will have six babies at that point. However, once your man dies, you get to use the one you earned first. It is more obvious what is happening when you play two player. When you earn the extra baby, you will play with that extra baby before the other player gets a turn. So if you keep earning an extra baby, then dying, you can keep going and make the other player wait indefinitely. So if you get down to having one baby pac-man, you can earn the spare to get you back to two temporarily, but you will never have three again.

Advancing the arrows and getting the baby pac-man awarded requires the vidiot setup to be run (game test mode) and you need to set some options in there. I posted what I think are the options in this thread. If you do not set those options, you will not get the extra babies. It isn't clear in the manual, but you must do that for it to work.

If you can't find it and get the setting to work, just post back and I will go verify the settings on my machine. Have fun!

Edit: Also, it isn't just the blue drop target that lights the arrows. Completing the fruits or tunnel sequence will light an arrow. Also, with the right settings, clearing a maze will also light an arrow. So if you need one arrow to get the extra baby, you will get it when you clear the maze if you miss earning it via pinball.
