Is it worth the extra money to get the 490 over the 470? I got a 470 for $50 and it appears the 490s are going for around 150-500.

The 470 with 3 individual meters is a nice unit, the 490 is a newer version of the 470. If you are going to pick up a 490, I would buy your 470. I am working with an old Sencore right now.

Cool. My 470 only has one meter and of course seeing three meters each dedicated to a color on the 490 makes me want one. :)

I think you can get a 490 pretty cheap these days. I picked one up for $45. I think Friz or someone got one shortly after a little cheaper than I did. Just be patient.

Murph

The 470 has a single meter.

The 490 is just a redressed 467. Internally they are electrically the same as a 467. There are several 490's on ebay right now.

Now the 490-B is totally different story altogether. It's a very sophisticated microprocessor controlled rejuvenator and it uses different adapters than previous models. The 490-B is a top-of-the-line model well worth the high price it commands.

Doh. got the 467 and 470 mixed up. Sorry about that. The 490-B is a wish list item for me.

I have a 490 that I like a lot. I don't think it is a 490-B, as it uses the normal adapters...

i love my heathkit 5230. it has 3 meters and are cheap to buy. the manual leaves way more questions than it answers.
i just bought a BK 470 cheap from ebay. havent used it yet but the manual is way more better!? Ha.
