Hey all,

Bought a 470 the other day. I believe the meter windings have a break in them. At first it wouldn't move. Tested all the components on the board behind it and they tested fine in circuit.
Tried again using the field recalibration instructions and the meter started working. Noticed if I tapped on it lightly, the needle would bounce down towards 0 then up to the 6.3v I had it set to.

I can't find specifics about the meter, just a part number which doesn't really give me any answers. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement or the specs for it?

Now that I've typed this up I realized it might be a cracked solder joint somewhere. I'll go look for that while I wait.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

The meter is just a small motor. The windings should have a very low resistance.

Issue fixed. the screw terminal on the meter was loose. must have happened in shipping.

directly behind the meter there are two screws with nuts which are the leads for the meter and attach it to the circuit board.

FYI, though it is rare, sometimes NOS BK meters can be found on Ebay.
I know as I was lucky, many years ago, to snag some for one of my "basketcase" BK467. (As always - YMMV)

Glad the OP found a more reasonable and obtainable fix. :)
