I was fortunate enough to get a B&K 467 off ebay recently. I do not have any experience with them so I will begin to educate myself on a old K7191 tube that has weak red & blue. Ken did send me a excellent manual that I have been reading.

In the meantime I have a couple of questions for the guru's out there -

1. Other than just trying to use it, is there any way to test that the unit is working properly? Does anyone service or "refresh" these units?

2. It did come with a cr23 adapter, yet two wires are cut on the adapter at the neck connection, a position marked "focus grd." with two wires coming out of it (appears to be white/blue and yellow) and position marked "grd." with two wires coming out of it as well (white/red and white). Are these cut wires correct or has it been modified?

3. I do need a cr31 that it did not come with...does anyone still supply these?

Lastly.... any helpful pointers for a newbie?

Thanks in advance!

Compare your CR23 to this wiring diagram. It is possible that the cut wires are just not used.

You can build your own CR31 from this drawing:

Or I can build you one. I have the parts but no CR31's built for now. If you want one, or just the parts to build it yourself send me a pm.

As for pointers, pay careful attention to the heater temp and the directions for how to rejuv a tube. If you apply rejuv voltage for too long you can burn out your guns.

It came with a 3,4,6,7,8 adapter, which do not look like thay can be adapted to a 31 based on the drawings you sent. Based on my readings I most likely will not be needing these adapters for working on my game monitors.

Those lower number adaptors, in my experience, are only good for black and white sets.

The easiest way to build an adaptor is to get an old neckboard from a tube that used the same socket as the CR31 and use the socket to build the new adaptor. I pull my sockets from old TV sets when I can; the part for the CR31 is fairly common on 13" tv sets.

6 and 7 are used on B&W raster and B&W X-Y arcade monitors. Adapter 3 is used for calibrating the 467 rejuvenator. I just emailed you a copy of the 467 service manual so you can see how to calibrate the unit yourself if necessary.
