Is there a trick to taking these apart? Took out the 4 screws and it appears to be hung up. Don't want to mess it up! Would like to get inside to debug a bad conversion to CR series.

I have one of these, and I also converted to cr adapters , and mine doesn't seem to work the same on all color guns. I've been meaning to tale it apart and troubleshoot it, so please tell us what you find.

I took mine apart the other day. As you found there are two screws on the bottom that need to be removed.
I was lucky when I bought mine because it came with a factory adapter box to convert it to the new style adapters. It also had a couple of the new adapters including the CR23.
Mine also acts like its not working correctly on the green and blue guns. I tried on two different known working tubes and it reads as if the tubes are bad or almost bad. I followed the instructions very carefully each time. I pulled the unit apart and dont see anything obviously wrong with it.
Racer2, does yours read normal on red and give strange readings on the other settings?

The factory adapter is PN SP-66 in case you wanted to try to find one.

I don't really remember now. I think it didn't seem to read at all on two guns. I figured the switch that selects the colors was bad.

Mine doesn't read emissions for red and blue. Figured I'd do connectivity tests from inside to the molex connector and then go from there. I'll post what I find.

I just did a quick look inside, checked solder joints and basically took a look to see what was in there. Not much to go bad other than switches and a few solder joints. There are about 4 caps but I dont think they would be the cause of this problem. When I get more time I plan on opening it back up and ESR'ing (is that a word?) all the caps and cleaning the switch contacts. The switches are all silver plated so they should be easy to clean up.

Check the schematics and look for those pesky multi-banded 1% resistors. You'll probably find a couple of them that are bad.

Also, look for any board interconnects and check the solder on them for cracks.
