I bought a Aztec 4 player EM pinball machine with many problems. Just got it up and going but at startup it always starts up with a three players game for just one credit. never just one player always three players. If you press the credit button one more time you get the fourth player. Credit Unit? Thanks for any help.

Did you do the free play mod yourself? If or if not, might want to check how they did it and check the work out and see if it's good and all the connections are solid.

I say the place to start would be the player unit. If that hasn't been degreased and properly cleaned, then now is the time to do it and make sure its properly stepping through the players.

On this vintage of machine, the first place to go is the "COIN UNIT" on the bottom panel of the machine. It could very well be gunked up or something as simple as a cable from the playfield getting caught in the unit's wiper fingers.

I'm going to go with the player unit is not resetting all the way.

After you start playing the game, does it go from player 3 to 4 and back to player 1 and cycle through all players? Or does it just go between 3 and 4 and maybe sometimes go back to 1 or 2?

it does player 1, 2, & 3 consistently with just one play (credit). Never does players out of order. Will add player four for another credit.

Thank you all for the help. Must be on the right track. I was messing with both the coin unit and player unit and now I get all four players for one credit.

Sometimes people have messed with the limit switch on the coin unit where they've managed to get the switch on the wrong side of the post.

Also worth checking the settings pins are connected correctly. Most older EM pinball have options for 1, 2, 3, credits per quarter.

I've had to modify a few machines to think it's taking a dime when a quarter is dropped so as to ring only one credit. 2 plays for a quarter was as low as it's settings would allow. Not sure of your game, the inside cabinet pic on ipdb.com is not clear enough to see.

the coin mech switches do not work at all. Nothing, but if I trip the 10 cent coil it gives two credits and if I trip the 25 cent coil it gives five credits. Cant figure out why the coin mech switches don't work.
