Pretty much a copy and paste from the Neo Geo forums:

Kingsley and I have been in contact for about a week arranging a deal for a New Astro City cab shipped from his shop to my door. He was very responsive with discussing the details of the deal and the condition of the cab. He also provided detailed pics at my request of certain areas of the cab so I can accurately assest the condition of the cab I will be getting so I don't have to drive all the way there to inspect it myself (I live 2 hours away from his store).

He promised the cab's monitor would be in good condition, have no burn in, and will come with a 2 player control panel.

We negotiated a very good price, made the detail, and he promptly shipped the cab to me.

He cab arrived in very good condition, and everything he promised about cab (no monitor burn in, 2 player CP, etc) was met. The only flaw in the cab was scratches and such that come with a cab of it's age. Nothing was dented, chipped, or broken. Honestly the cosmetic condition of the cab was better than the last cab I bought.

All in all, a good experience with Coinopstore. I would (and will be) buying from him again.

Surprising since it's WELL known on the Neo-Geo forums AND my personal experience with him that he's a flake and sends out dog shit and NEVER stood behind his word on the group buy. If you really want a first hand experience with Kingsley before you buy then contact me and ill show you pictures and documentation on what was promised vs. what was received.

I already know about the NG group buy issue, I'm just saying my personal experience with him has been great and he delivered a great product to me.

Just advising anybody who is thinking about dealing with Kingsley to give him a chance and that there are people out there that have had positive experiences with him.

Congrats. He's delivered on PCB boards here, no issues at all but buying something like a cab from him, i think others here would pass. . Post some pics of your cab. Im curious what you got and for how much )

I'll take pics of the cab when I get home but won't discuss the price because I'm not sure what deals he is/has cut with other people.

Pics as promised

After closer inspection there are some issues I missed at first with the cab that I am going to report because I am honest and don't want to give anyone a false sense of quality.

Here are the issues:

1. Some buttons are missing the switch in the back
2. Light on the top is broken/missing (haven't taken off the plate yet)
3. Monitor has vertical size issues (pictured)
4. Monitor chassis looks to be in poor condition (pictured)
5. Front monitor controls under the CP is missing mounts and the vertical position pot doesnt work.

#1 and #2 aren't a big deal, but #3 might be a real issue. I'm going to pull the chassis this weekend and give it some work. Luckily I'm technically profient as I am sure I can improve/fix/repair the chassis. I'll repost in this thread after I pull the chassis this weekend.

Anyhow, here are the pics, up close and high resolution.

Looks slightly better then the best of my 3 cabs. Congrats. If you end up with the pot issue on the monitor, a nice dremel scrubbing will help.

About $500 shipped the cost?

I simply joined these forums so I could post about my experience with Coinopstore, so hopefully no one else falls prey to this scammer.

I'm very new to the whole arcade cab scene. Never owned one, and thus, don't know how to wire or fix anything myself. I told Coinopstore I'd need this machine to be plug and play from the time it arrives. I was assured "this will be the best and smoothest transaction you've ever had on Ebay." Wow, couldn't be further from the truth. It's easily the worst experience I've had on Ebay in 10 years.

I order a "fully restored" New Astro city with 1 slot PCB and 150 in 1 cart. I won't even say how much I paid but it was for more than the Ebay ones he's selling. He told me those on Ebay were "semi restored" and a fully restored is taken apart "piece by piece" and much nicer quality. Also, I ordered white glove delivery inside my home. Here were the problems:

1-Original shipping date is missing by an entire week.
2-Shipper arrives and has no record of white glove delivery being ordered. So I have to bring cab inside my apt, unwrap, set it up...Not white glove which I paid for.
3-Machine is flithy. There's cigarette ash inside the CP. Was it even vacuumed, much less "fully restored"???
4-Monitor problems-Sides of the screen are wavy and doesn't hold it's shape.
5-The 4th "D" button isn't wired to play. So much for plug and play on about 40% of the games on the cart.
6-The game itself....A number of the games don't register input commands (like char/team select) or sometimes even play at all like Pre Isle 2 and Aero Troopers 3.
7-The marquee light doesn't work at all. WTG testing this one!

So I write and call Coinopstore immediately. They say they'll send someone out to pick up the cab I have at no cost to me, and send me a new one...Plus they'll send me pictures of the restoration process, along with pictures of the cab working....They tell me the new cab will be out in a week. Well a week comes and goes...No pictures, no cab. I call and write...Just excuses....Wait, let me take some of that back...I do get pics...OF THE CAB WRAPPED UP IN THE CRATE. And I get THREE PICTURES of this....WTF does that show me? I wanted to see it working. I wanted to see how clean it looked. Well finally, they promise to then ship the cab on two separate days and don't. I have a feeling they were trying to stall on my Paypal claim protection timeframe (45 days). End of story, I'm pursuing a full refund. Needless to say since I've mentioning wanting a full refund I haven't heard one word from them.

Here's my favorite part of this story. When asking Kingsley what the hell happened and how did my order turn out so badly he says and I quote-"The guys in the shop mixed up invoices and half-assed the order." Wow...That really should give ANY potential future buyer confidence in buying from him.

So, in short. Buyer beware and I should have done more research before buying, and if I get my money back I'm going to buy from thegameroom....But moral of the story.....Don't give a dime of your money to Coinopstore. They avoid answering questions directly and can't deliver on the items they sell or the promises they make.

+++++ a million

Honestly it's a business that is ran by Kingsley and is nothing more then a place for Fast & Furious wannabe's to get together and act like they know how to work on cars and games.

Kingsley has potential IMO but he has since lost the multiboard market here on KLOV and now obviously he's losing the small jap cab market as well, ie he never even had one but the small part he couldve had probably long gone.

I would just like to add to this.

I had an arrangement to buy and have one machine shipped. The condition of the unit was to be NEW old stock. Still in a shipping crate. Totally unused just having been held in storage some place for like 10 years or so.

I repeat.. NEW as in NEW unused in any way and complete. And also had it confirmed that it was to have the manual. After many, many, many emails about this and some pictures of it wrapped up still with the exterior crate removed I agreed to buy.

It was shipped to the wrong state. I took off work to be home for it and nothing. It finally was shipped to me and I had to take off work again. When I got it and had it all unwrapped here is what I got.

Lets take a closer look.

Inside the coin door. Where did the counter go?

coin.jpg

Oh here it is! And look at that ... it says 842? Well I guess they did a lot of play tests on at the factory to make sure it worked good. humm...

coincounter842.jpg

No feet have ever tread here... or have they?

Floor.jpg

Where did the foot go...

There it is! Do you wanna know that that metal bar is... Stay tuned and I'll show you later. Also I fiound those screws rolling around in the coin box.

Lets see what is next.

Oh how about this....

Cart.jpg

A little known fact is that new games come without name stickers. Also they rub dirt on naomi boards at the factory to keep out evil spirits.

About that missing screw.. did it come from here?

front1.jpg

Or here?

cp2.jpg

Or here?

Hang on! They even have a sticker stuck over some bolts.. thats a odd place it seems.

cp1.jpg

No they must have come from here..

back1.jpg

Wait or was it here...

back2.jpg

So by this point I felt I had just gotten ths shaft.. sort of like this one here.

shift.jpg

Thats not much to gripe about is it..

Well can you guess what this is?

side.jpg

Here is a little clue... and no I did not unscrew the back this is how it came.

side2.jpg

Lets see the other side of that.

mtop.jpg

Well the plastic on the back was only broken where it screwed in ... most of the places anyhow but seeing as how it was not totally busted then the monitor should be in good shape because after all it is a brand spanking new machine.

lets have a look.

Monitorb.jpg

Holy Q-bert my ass! Remember when I told you that we would find out were that metal bar came from.. Thats right someone cut the monitor frame. Guess thats how they come from the factory.

Well maybe the monitor is still okay though. Oh and by the way he said that was shipping damage.

Shattered!

Shipping damage my ass. He claimed this whole thing was shipping damage. Then tryed to say that maybe the place he sent it to by mistake, being another arcade dealer swapped a junk one for the new one he sent.
Then it was he got it and was told it was new and never unboxed it to look before it was shipped.

Because the parts alone were worth something we agreed on a price for it in the condition it is in that was about 1500 less than the original price.

So if anyone wants to buy a busted crazy taxi, it just so happens he has another, or you could just buy mine.

Aside from being filthy it also had the wrong power cord and I had to take another day off work for when the shipping company wanted to come inspect it for his freight claim. They said that was not shipping damage.. go figure.

Yeah, I've had several email exchanges with him, and came close a few times to pulling the trigger. Something in the back of my head always warned me and I always backed out. Threads like this make me glad I have whatever it is in the back of my head. Unless it's a tumor. :(
