Aug 6 Mesquite TX Auction Roll Call

Yea I heard the last and only time SA came to Texas was the weekend before AAA held their auction.I remember seeing a couple of pictures from the SA auction and there was only a hand full of games.

The story I was told was that the SA folks scheduled theirs the week before but the hotel didn't get paid for the last time they used the room so they had to pay for last time and the June auction up front. (Dunno how true that is...)

They said "hundreds of games" but when I got there to see it the auction had already finished. There were less than 40 games there.

The following weekend at the new auction the room was nicely packed with games. :)

We just got here and I'd report but all the doors were locked up tight and the bar is closed .

Looking through the door crack I could see Mr. "it's prolly jist a fuse" playing a game though :)

My wife said she'd put this pic on a T-shirt for me to wear at the auction. :)

I'm crossing my fingers she finds time to do it. :)

She did it :)

It turned out a bit off color/purplish on the picture, but I'll be wearing it tomorrow. :)

I've been pretty underwhelmed so far with a lot of the selection...

There were some good games at this auction, such as the 3 dedicated Silver anniversary Space Invaders / Qix games. They were in really good condition, along with the Asteroids Deluxe. 4 empty Turbo Sub cabinets all with a seat down cab, but trying to find games boards to go into them could tuff. I also saw a Mrs Pacman pinball machine, but didn't see it working.

The silver anniversary space invaders were nice an I got out bid on all 3 of them! Hardly any pins at all an many seem to be buybacks. More junk here than I've ever seen before.

I overheard one guy talking to what I guess was his employee, instructing him to bid up to $ 500 per Space Invaders / Qix game. He wasn't shill bidding. I know he won the first one. I got excited when I spotted a Tron and Spy Hunter, but the Tron didn't come on, and the Spy Hunter display was upside down. The Donkey Kong Jr. looked in good condition, but had a problem with the joy stick engaging to the left.

I bid on the 2nd Space Invaders/Qix - they all went for decent prices ($500 or less.)

The parts boards I usually buy went too high. I didn't get 'em but made the other guy pay through the nose for 'em. My high bid was a bit over $300.

I did pick up 2 plastic tubs of trackball parts which will be great for making JAMMA adapters for various games (Missile Command anyone? :) )

Oh, I got a Zaxxon cab that was very rough, but it was $1 and had 3 boardsets in it. :) I also picked up a touchscreen gambling game just to put my Fisherman's Bait game in. It'll be perfect for it and much smaller than the dedicated cab.

I ended up with 3 items. I bought a working Cherry Master in poker-slot cabinet for 10 bucks, a working Noah's Ark Redemption (AKA Pop a Ball) for 5 bucks, and a Cyclone top that I am going to use for turtles for 20 bucks. The last purchase was a little more than I wanted to go for but I waited till the end for it.

Some stuff went high and others went for less that I expected. A Flinstones egg machine with no eggs which usually goes for 25 bucks went for 125. The Stand up Turbo Subs went for 60 bucks each to one bidder and someone else got the cockpit sitdown for 60 bucks. There was also a Fire Truck, a Jr Pac Man in a Pac-Man mini cabinet.

That fire truck went for crazy high money. I don't think either bidder saw the big crack across the front of the monitor down at the bottom.

thats the first atari sitdown fire truck I have seen in over 10 years.
didn't work and went for $375. There was also a killer instink that didn't
work that went close to 300 I think.
2 or 3 nintendo red tents. looks like one was still original. didn't see the sale price.
I got a tekken 4 in new style dynamo with no monitor for $10 but had all the boards and also a tekken 1 in a dynamo cab that worked for $25
over all it was a good auction. deals to be had.

The Killer ItStinks went for $275!

The red tents were DC2010's. One was a buy back and the one converted to JAMMA went for $100.
