I just want to run this question by some of the experts here at KLOV. I have a few SEGA power amps for multiple games like the Model 1 and Model 2 board systems. There is some audio tearing issues when you adjust the volume and I'm not quite sure where the problem originates. Could it possibly be the 5K pot used for the volume adjustment needs to be replaced? Or could it possibly be some failing components on the Power Amp board?

I've checked the cables and harness to ensure there is no issues. The speakers are not anywhere near damaged, and really the components like the caps look fine on the Power Amp boards. No bursting or oozing caps. The AC transformer's outputs are within tolerable limits and not below the required voltage needed.

Tearing is usually the fault of a dirty pot, bringing noise into the circuit before it enters the amplifier. Depending on how the amp is set up, you can also check the coupling capacitors in the audio feed.
