i am thinking of taking a few games to auction (popeye, arch rivals, shinobi, primal rage, rampage, and a tatio 60 in one game elf). has anyone had good experiences with selling at auctions? what kind of price did you get for dedicates or prices in general? i went to the last one in tennesee and the games were going for more than i thought they were worth (and they werent of very good quality).

It's a total crapshoot. I've been to 5 or 6 and it was mostly garbage I wasn't interested in. I didn't see anything that I wanted and the handful that were interesting sold for more than I would pay.

So is the popeye still available?

We're pretty close geographically. Is your Primal Rage dedicated? PM me some details. I'm interested. Thanks.

I would offer them up here first and see what offers you get before taking your chances with an auction.

I used to do one Mame cabinet every time I went to Superauctions. Those always brought $500-$600 so I was more than happy with them. The other games I have brought to auction have always brought me less than I would have just gotten dumping them on ebay at no reserve.

I go to most all the auction game sales auctions and have sold several games in the past. It's easier to sell locally but the auction will be hassle free no mad customer to call because they dropped it or whatever. Your paid cash at the end of the auction unless it's a ton of money then they pay by check. There check is good don't worry about that. Many games will sell for more than there worth if you have a low piece count and a high buyer count. The closer to Christmas the more games will show at the auctions and more buyers. With all that said I give Klov first shot then Craigslist a shot the week before the auction at full asking price.
I would be interested in the rampage if your looking for a local sell.

What's the latest on pricing with the fees and all that now for a seller? I know for a home buyer you get jabbed with 10% plus tax. Not a big deal on lesser stuff but that sucks on something getting closer to a grand, not to mention the pinball territory. I should just get an LLC to do the flat fee.

The buying 10% caps out at 100.00. So your 10,000 dollar medieval madness only has a 100.00 auction fee for home buyers plus the sales tax. I believe it's the same on selling. 10.00 to enter a item and 10% off the purchase price. Been several months since I sold something so do your homework and don't get butt hurt. But I love selling at auction nobody stands you up or waste your time. It sells and I have cash no baggage or bs.

I've done this in years past and had mixed success, and I don't even consider it as an option any more. Be vigilant of the machines you are selling!! There are people out there that will sabotage your game so when it hits the floor it "doesn't work" and they can get it for less. It's happened to me. The game worked when I dropped it on the floor. When they were prepping the game (2 before the one currently active) and turned it on it didn't power up. Like nothing came up. No marquee lights or anything. I was able to run behind the game and pull the back to find that someone cut the hot line to the power brick. In the process of trying to strip the wire and splice to fix it I lacerated my hand and had to leave it.

sad to think people do this. i had never even thought about that being something to watch for.

Call it a life lesson.

A solution is to put locks on it and use them. Tape a sign to the game that says that the keys are with with you and leave some sort of contact info so folks can inspect the inside of the game if necessary. On a running arcade usually I don't concern myself with internal inspection and I suspect most are the same. When I by pinballs at auction I always try to or bid accordingly.

You could also leave the keys with the Auction House if you didn't want to put your contact info out there.
