I'm a sad panda. Today, I just watched a 100% working Power Drift cockpit sell for $50

I wish I had the space and a way to transport it. I was so saddened to watch a game I really want, and had the money for, sell for dirt cheap.

This was my first auction ever. How do you folks deal with situations like that?

Buy it, and regret it every step of the way, until it's in the arcade.

My advise is never go to an auction unless you bring a truck or trailer. Otherwise its a guarantee you will be sad when its time to leave. I have learned my lesson and always show up prepared, but even then sometimes my trailer isn't big enough so I miss out on some deals.

This is very true...

You go to an auction full well knowing your going to see something that you really want, for cheap that you don't have the means to own. Space, condition, etc. You still (usually) come back with something that you like, just not as awesome as the next deal. Heck, I missed a $100 Lethal Weapon 3 pin at auction because of some confusion as to what was for sale. You kick yourself at the time, but at the end of the day, your happy with what you got.

Arcade auctions have sucked for at least 5 years or so. 20% plus fees! No thanks.

That was a nice deal. I've seen the huge stuff go for lower prices or not sell at all... Other than EDOT and Star Wars, I think people are less inclined to want 600+ pound games that take up the space of two machines.

This just makes me wonder how many KLOV people I bumped into without even knowing it. I am sure I must have seen you because I was standing right next to the Power Drift when it sold.

All of the sit down racers I saw went for dirt cheap, but I think the size is the main deciding factor. Of course if they had had a hydrothunder, F-zero AX deluxe, or Initial D then I would have been in a pickle, as I would have had to figure out a way to transport one home and figure a way to make it fit :D

Yea, the size is the problem for most folks. If I could get it cheap, I'd sure take a Hydrothunder or something, but I'd never fit it anywhere in the house, so I just can't. Same with Space Lords or T-mek - I like it, but that monster cab is so big it's a non-starter for me (I've actually got a Space Lords board set and CPs, with plans to build a single cab, but that's 'someday').

Be prepared, have extra money with you or available, have access to a truck/trailer on-call...

and if you can't fit it in your arcade, just do what I do, find another gameroom to start filling. ;) I started another gameroom in my parents vacation property for the crap I just can't fit in my basement. :D

That is one of the reasons I have been avoiding auctions. I never seem to have a helper to load the truck. I'd hate to watch my dream cab go by because I couldn't load it.

Play lots of Tetris so you can cram tons of stuff in. I've been amazed watching some people pack some of those trucks so freaking full at auctions.
