Has anyone seen the auction hunter show on Spike? Caught it this morning and they bought a crate that had a ms pacman in a pacman cab in it. Kinda disappointed at the chain of events with it's value rating and the fact they thought they minted the machine by applying decals of ms pacman to an obvious pacman style cabinet.

Anyone else's thoughts on this show?

BTW the Jordan's in this episode had to have been knockoffs.

The guy who ends up buying it is Nathan Barnatt. Hes a member here. Only he didnt buy it in real life.
I tried to watch that show today as well and couldnt stomach it. It sucks and is way to scripted.

The board that was in it wasn't a real Ms Pac board either, it was running Ms Pac Attack, so it was probably bootleg (I don't think Midway released a Ms Pac upgrade kit for Pac Man cabs, you had to buy it as a full cab from them)

I just caught the end of the show, but from what I could tell, it was a Pac cab too. Not the right shape for Ms. Pacman.

And yes, I agree with Gozer, the show is painful to watch. "Reality" TV these days is out of control. I knew there was no way he actually bought it, especially for the price they negotiated.

yea, that's a re-run, i figured it was staged. Knowing what i know now it being staged makes complete sense.

I do enjoy that show tho staged or not it's interesting. Storage Wars is good too (Barry Weiss is a real character).

If you do a Google search for "Auction Hunters" it auto-fills to: "Auction Hunters Fake". That should tell you something. I read where someone was claiming that the fat guy that goes by the name "Ton" was the "star" of a different "reality show" within the last couple of years. On the show, they act like this has been their FULL TIME job for "YEARS", and that is why they are the "Best in the Business"...

I've seen Auction Hunters a few times but just can't handle it. The acting is some of the worst I have ever seen!!! I can handle the big guy, "Ton," but that skinny guy makes me want to punch him in the mouth. He is obnoxious as hell! What an ass...

I do enjoy Storage Wars. Barry Weiss is one of my favorite characters on there, but I also love Dave Hester. He cracks me up!!! I know, it's kind of ironic. I hate the obnoxious character on Auction Hunters but like the one on Storage Wars. I think it's all in the acting abilities... Lol!

Auction Hunters is worthless and should be canceled.

I know when I watch these shows that they are scripted, so I have no problem with that in this circumstance. The problem i have with this show, as opposed to Storage Wars, is that they NEVER end up losing money at the end of the show, EVER! Total BS....

Hell, I question if it's not ALL made up.

Clinton "Ton" Jones has been in movies.....Oceans 11, Oceans 12, etc.
Alan Haff did/does commercials.

The 'outlaw' guy's wife on Storage Wars is pretty hot, she's nice to have on that show too. Her husband is a tool though.

Barry and Dave are always good for some laughs.

I think that alot of that stuff they find is planted however.
Also I always wonder when Barry finds one 'good' item, he just walks away from the rest of the unit. Doesn't he sell off the rest of it or at least have to empty out the unit by the end of the day?

If they really wanted to make the show 'more realistic', then they would include the dregs involved with buying storage units.... taking the crap and tossing or doing a midnight guerilla drop off at a local thrift store loading dock.

They say at the beginning of the show (in text) they are only showing the best finds - they say they are not showing the bad ones. That's by design.

Yeah I know, I watch the show religiously (shame). And you might want to listen to the intro again ;)

Not to mention they value everything to show the profit...but they don't show the guys sitting on it for 6 months trying to sell it at half the price they think it's worth.

The best episode is the one where the guy finds an NES and tells everyone it's worth $13K. I lold hard when he was told it might be worth $10.

Now THAT (Mark Belalo?) guy was outed by Daryl (the WOW factor guy) as a TOTAL fraud. I think that Storage Wars is legit because there are often episodes when the participants don't even buy a locker. And many of the episodes only ONE of the four principals actually turn a profit. I DO, however, believe that when they "sum up" the results, the totals are estimates and do not reflect an EXACT accounting of what they actually made after the filming stopped...

Interesting.....I've seen that episode and was in ahhh/laughing at the price for a sticker siding instead of stencil.....

But you said he(Klov member) didn't actually buy it and spend the $1300 or whatever it was? He never bought it at all? What did they do, just shake hands for the camera and hand his money back and everyone walked away?

I would be interested on how this transpired. :D

The manager at my old storage unit place told me this about Storage Wars....

The OWNER of my old storage place owns 7 or 8 places here in Cali with a few in Ventura County.
Storage Wars approached him about filming at one in Ventura. The deal would be as follows:

$10,000 payment to the storage facility for the use of the complex AND only the stars of Storage Wars were able to bid and win the units. The other people there were just extras, per se, but not hired by the SW peeps.
That's why one of them always wins a unit.

I've noticed this season the some regular Joe's are bidding but not winning.
