A guy contacted me on my blog today about an upcoming arcade parts inventory auction in Michigan, as he thought I'd be interested.

As you may or may not know Alpha Amusements (business) was sold.
The company that purchased them only purchased the assets. They did not purchase the property and building. Alpha has now sold the building and is auctioning off all the remaining contents. Over 700 lots. Ranging from Appliances to X-men arcade game board.

The online auction started today and runs until the 12th.

No use to me as I'm over the pond, but figured someone local might want to check it out.

Looks like pick up only. Main auction page is here:

Arcade-specific listings are here:

A lot of modern stuff, but I spotted an i-Robot PCB in there and a few other classic era bits.

Again, this is not my auction, just passing info on.

Happy hunting.

wow, lots of stuff. Too bad they don't ship. I'm sure people will get good deals from this.

Some interesting items in there. It really is too bad they don't ship. As it stands it would be 6 hours there and back for me. Why couldn't be on the west side of Michigan? I'd at least be able to swing that.

um it's strictly local pickup only. ie: no shipping offered at all.

Yep. I have a friend in Troy, MI who could probably pick up anything I purchase. Or I could do it myself if I decide to go to the Deadmou5 show at The Fillmore that weekend.

Lots of good deals to be had for sure.

Can we get someone to act as a proxy for those of us outside of Michigan? I see a couple of boards I'm interested in.

As much as that would be really cool of someone, it's probably nothing more than a GIANT headache for them. Trying to deal with the $$, pickup of proper lots, then packing/shipping, not to mention just dealing with people in general..

They quote this on their FAQ:

Can I send someone else to pickup my items and pay my invoice?

Only if you call ahead and identify the person and they pay with cash. They WILL NOT be allowed to pay by credit card.

I've got a few friends in Plymouth and might hit them up to see if they can go but it's a lot to ask as they are 35min away so that's at min 1.5 hrs of their time.

NEW: Update on MI Auction!!!!!!

Was at the preview today and spoke with Doug (operation manager of Alpha Amusements)... Lots of boards, power supplies, marquees, components, etc... He wanted to make sure that if you want something to email him about shipping @ [email protected]

Well, I emailed Doug and didn't hear back from him. Hoping that he has a chance to get back to me tomorrow because Wed is the auction.

Anyone else have any luck with him?

Just once I'd love to see one of these auctions have like 200 NIB 13" and 19" CRTs.... Sold individually.

JUST ONCE!

If anyone is picking stuff up please let me know I will bid on the Roadburners board set and pay shipping plus $20 for your time.

I emailed his with the auction numbers I was interested in Bidding on and my zip code to see if they could be shipped and he got back to me a day or 2 later that they could, for the cost of shipping and a small boxing/handling fee, which was reasonable.

Huh, had I known I would have included the items I was interested in. I didn't even broach setting up a bidder number because the auction company said they wouldn't offer shipping. He didn't email back today so I guess he just ignored my inquiry. Their loss, I was looking at quite a few listings.

My guess is that once his email got posted here, he started getting a flood of emails. You may want to shoot him another message with the basic details. I know the larger items they won't ship based on the email response I got.

Yea, I figured the same. I was interested in a bunch of boards so it was all easily shipped.

Thanks for the feedback. If I find time I might try again.
