Attention Megatouch owners...thoughts, advice, ect. wanted.

I have been thinking about getting a Megatouch for while. Its probably going to wait until tax refund time. Probably going for an older version as they would likely be cheaper. Any thoughts on which one to get? Anybody ship a Megatouch? I would think it would cost quite a bit less than a regular game but they still are heavy. Any other thoughts, ideas, opinions would be welcome.

Thanks.

I have owned a couple of them and IMO I have had the best luck and fun with my Jade MAXX upright. I had a countertop and didn't enjoy having to sit at a table and play it. I like the idea of walking up or pulling over a barstool. As far as shipping....its going to run you more than its worth so shop local and drive if you hve to.

I have an XL series countertop that I upgraded to the titanium 2 software.
It has a decent amount of games (around 50).

It's probably the best bang for the buck, until the average price for
the MAXX series drops by about $100.00, but that could still be
a couple of years away.

Shipping method depends of how much damage you're willing
to put up with while it's in transit. Most sellers aren't willing
to take the time to pack it well enough for a damage free trip
through a UPS distribution center.

It cost about $80.00 to have mine shipped through UPS.
I bought it broken and had expected some damage from shipment.

The damages mine incurred from shipping were a cracked touchscreen overlay,
a busted side panel, and a busted currency box to wiring harness connector.

In all, after repair and replacing the damaged parts,
it was still cheaper than freight shipping.

It's a cool game system and has a nice variety of games with it,
women seem to really enjoy it, and it really doesn't take up that much space.

There really isn't anything bad I can say about it.

I got an older version (Super Megatouch IV) locally for $100.

It's not as flashy as the newer models, but whenever there are people over, it gets alot of play.

They are HEAVY. At least mine is for the size. Like others have said, I'd look locally for one.

...

In my honest opinion, I would go for a Maxx. Its newer, has more games and its easily (and cheaply) upgradable. Better games than the XL serious obviously.

Old school MT's are everywhere and they are much cheaper than the XL's and newer. I personally favor the upright cabaret models because they blend in better with the arcade games IMO. Also with the older ones, you dont rely on software, so you dont have to worry about a bad hard drive or security key later down the road. My only advice is stay away from tournament editions, at least for the older ones. I stated off with a Megatouch 4 TE and it only had 13 games on it. Luckily I found an MT6 PCB for a good price to replace it. Only downfall to buying an older MT, no photo hunt.

If you can afford it get an older force. Maxx and earlier will continue to drop in value, but force will hold it's own. Watch out for radion's with a dim screen the tubes tend to go bad.

I have shipped 2 MAXX countertops with Speedy Delivery. They deliver to the SD, MN, IA, and NE area. One went to Mankato, MN and one to Minneapolis from Brookings, SD. The buyers arranged shipping but I remember it was somewhere between $20-40 for next day delivery. They do weigh about 80 lbs. I packaged them well and they arrived in one piece.

I would recommend a Maxx, its good bang for the buck.

I have a MegaTouch 6 and I LOVE IT! It gets a ton of play, and my gf really likes it to. I snagged it for 80 bucks on CL.

If you can find it, get an older Force game.

You can update to the 2011 software, which will be the last software the force will support. The Force systems should take a nose dive by the time you get your tax refund because of this (might be a little early for a total nose dive, but they will probably be able to be found reasonable).

I have seen the 2010.5 software upgrade for $200 or so. If you can find a force, get it!

I bought a Force 2006.5 about a year ago or more and recently upgraded it to Force 2010.5. It's by far, without a doubt, the most played game in my basement. I think the Force series is dynamite and the CRT versions (which I have) can be had for much less than the LCD versions.

I definitely want a countertop. I'm thinking about Maxx Jade or Emerald. Haven't looked anywhere but E-bay, yet. Its going to be a while, though. Thanks for the advice and the link to the info.

I have a MAXX Jade, and it has a great selection of games. Chip Away Air Hockey seem to be the favorite games on it. Kids love the touch screen part.
I have read that people who are looking for the more current card games, like Texas Hold'em should go with the Force series, if you don't care about having that game then the MAXX will work.

If you get a MAXX, I would suggest either converting the hard drive to a CF card or find out if someone is selling the Jade in CF on ebay. I did it so I don't have to keep trying to chase down old hard drives if one fails.

I have extra discs and security keys. Not sure what goes with what. I can sell or trade if interested.

I think it would be cool if they made a mega touch App for the iPad. Would be a blast I think and would allow another revenue stream in the dying coin op world.

Same here! I bought a very nice used Force 2006 model and upgraded it to the 2009 software (got the upgrade for $40). My wife plays the heck out of the Megatouch and my 4-year old daughter loves it as well. Even my senior-citizen parents love the Megatouch when they come to visit.

Mine is in the all-black cabinet like this picture, and I took the stickers off the sides.

There are a few MegaTouch apps for the iPhone already. Just do a search.

MonkeyBash, Lucky 11s, etc.

In my opinion, the older megatouches have more bang for your buck because the games are almost ALL fun... if it's an older game with a bunch of games, it's pretty comparable to a really expensive newer one with the same amount of games. I'd literally just get as many games as you can on one, for the best deal. Some of the newer games are cool but all the classic games are what people usually play, even on the new ones. Also all the companies that made them ripped each other off so they've all got about the same games.

I had a XL Titanium and was amazed at how cool it was, even though it's ancient. Tons of fun games on it.

I recently picked up a Jade II for $200, and sold my Sapphire II for $400. So you're looking at that price range. They both have around 100 very nice games. When people are over, 1 or more people are always camped out in front of it.

I have a MAXX counter top. Just upgraded the emerald software to Crown and now it has 120+ games and its a blast! The kids love it and its the most played game I have! I bought mine from a long time operator and he recommended the MAXX over the newer Force or RADION because they all pretty much play the same games but the MAXX hardware seems to be much more reliable. At least that was his experience. He said his Forces and Radions were always breaking, but the MAXX's were work horses!
