Well,i stopped by Atomic Arcade because i was in the area and the owner Chris happened to be there. So i got to meet him for the first time and see the different variety of games he had.Very nice collection! Many classics, and a good mix of others. It was great to talk "shop" with him,not many people i know really understand the addiction.....OOPS....i mean Hobby. :)He showed me around and we swapped stories on how we aquired some of our games. Here are some pictures i took while i was there...

Very cool collection of classics. Though, if this is going to be a business, it will be interesting to see how well it does. From what I've seen, trying to run an arcade with only classics isn't usually successful. Best of luck to him though!

He also has newer games like mortal kombat, simpsons, street fighter, and other popular titles,i just didnt take pics of those.

Oh nice. So a good mix of JAMMA games as well. That's good. Either way, I hope it works out for him. We don't have any arcades like that around these parts (not counting private collectors).

The classic staples are noticeably absent... dk, pac, centi, digdug, frogger, etc.
Many of the titles offered aren't really the ones that typically get much play.
It is very tempting to stock an arcade with personal favorites, but you're
shooting yourself in the foot if you plan to make a go of the business.
The paying public is more fickle than ever these days.

I saw a couple of classics in there that would get play from me like Spyhunter but I can see how not putting a few moneymakers in with them would spell doom.

So how close is he to opening the doors?

As for him not having money making classics, there is no such thing I have found. I would be amazed if there was any game like Pac-Man, Galaga or Donkey Kong out there that manages to make even a tenth of something like a brand new Terminator Salvation. He'll make due thanks to size but Pac-Man is not going to make $500/wk anymore. You might get there with classic type new games like Pac-Man Battle Royale though.

That said I hope to get a chance to visit his place soon, there are plenty of games there I would give a spin or two :)

Not sure that area has the necessary population density for such a niche type of business, but he sounds like he's loving it so I wish him well .

Actually the area it is in does have a lot of activity around it,ice cream shop next door, couple clubs
And other businesses and on a higher traffic street.Seems it will do good.I hope it does
