I have adjusted the vertical hold and horizontal hold and this is as good as it gets. The board has a lot of poly and metalized film capacitors in it. What kind of caps should I use to replace the metalized caps? I have quite an assortment of caps but not any metalized.
ps. thanks for the info I really appreciate it.
I also found 470uf / 40 v Orange Plastic Radial capacitor that is not in the video PCB layout, when replaced with an Electrolytic I get no video.
Ok I removed the mystery cap and there was no change. Replaced all the vert transistors. Finally checked my voltages on the video board and found my 30v at 5v. Ordered C47 and C43 from Bob Roberts, a big blue and for the heck of it a cap kit. Update to come. Lesson learned, check your power supply voltages first! Even if you really think you know it is a video problem. Update to come on the final solution. Any ideas or comments are appreciated.
Installed the Big Blue, swapped out the combo Cap C43 C47 with parts supplied by The Real Bob Roberts. On power up things were better. Adjusted L1 (Horizontal Set) L4 width Coil (which I had to rebuild due to failure) and was able to eliminate the Multiple short screens, mostly from the L1.
Now screen loses sync for fraction of a second sporadically and sometimes I have to adjust Horizontal Hold. While adjusting the 73volts C43B blew up! Reinstalled the original C43 combo cap and set 73volts correctly and now the machine works but still have sporadic squiggles or momentary loss of sync. I am going to replace the C43 combo cap and install a new Horizontal driver transistor Q9 B2L .
Does anyone know if you can use a BUY69B instead of the B2L ?
The answer is yes, you can use a BUY69B instead of a B2L. Of course you can't get the BUY69B unless you already have one.
