It seems like there is a good amount of demand out there for Atari System II sideart. I am about to start my Paperboy restoration, and would kill for some nice screen printed art.

I know some of the places will print if there is enough of a demand. So I guess I am asking is anybody else out there interested and who would I contact about getting a print run done?

I would think This Old Game or Phoenix would have done them. TOG has the CPO stuff, and the vinyl, and Phoneix has System I art, but nobody had screen printed System II. Bah.

not sure if anyone will ever silkscreen system II art but it would be nice if the solvent ink jet version was available. I would also love to buy the pooyan side art that prOk once had available at www.gamestencils.com I believe he may have had/be having health issues but even before that was shared with the community it was still a scenario where the art was available then sold out for months, then available for a day, then sold out for months. With the recent bezerk topper it strikes me as if he chooses to not visit KLOV much or maybe not at all anymore. It would be great if he was able/willing to more regularly produce the art he has listed on his site. If he has no plans to do so it would be great if someone else offered it.

I see a lot of chat, but no hard interest. ;)

I'd take 3 sets - one for Paperboy, one for Champ Sprint, and a backup set. And would go as high as 4 sets if it made 'the difference'.

That is only for silked stuff though... as for the solvent inkjet stuff I'd still buy, but probably only be in for 2 sets. I wish Rich @ TOG had the files...

I spoke to Brian via email a long while back and he said he was having a few more sets printed at that time... but a couple months later here we are.

I also ordered some white Atari vinyl from him very recently which he says he shipped, but I never got it nor a tracking number. I didn't even bother to ask him about it again, the responses are so intermittent and I'm just as apt to write off the loss and not buy anything from him anymore unless absolutely necessary.

And btw I ended up purchasing the vinyl from TOG once he restocked it.

What do we need to do to get this done? Is there a person to contact?

From recollection the vectorized art file that prOk who owns www.gamestencils.com used to print his art came from a member here. I think they may have even specified that you have to be a KLOV member to buy the art. May be wrong but I have doubts that this will ever be produced as silk screened art. I'd be happy to just see the solvent ink jet available on a regular basis.

I would think there may be two ways to make this art available again.

1. someone needs to vectorize and color match the art again and find a source to print it. This method might even result in screened art.

2. contact either the member who vectorized the art or prOk (Brian Jones) and basically get permission for another printer such as Rich from This Old Game to produce the art. Pretty sure no one wants to cut into another members business and risk making the people involved mad. If the right people give their blessing this might happen.

Normally I would say that if enough people contact game stencils. com that they might do another run but it seems a number of email attempts have gone unanswered.

I could be wrong, but I think I recall asking Brian about a piece of art on his site that was out of stock and he said that Rich could also print it. This was years ago I think.

Didn't Phet do the vectorization on this art way back? There was an entire thread about it, anyone with search skills wanna look it up?

Stupid threads like this are just the reason i've not been really interested in klov of late.

I get this art in 6 set batches, and I usually sit on those 6 sets for months at a time so the justification to just stock it isn't there anymore. Of course, when it goes out you get static about why not and you get all the promises in the world about i'll buy 10 bajillion sets, then you print it and crickets. That's happened to me the last 3 times I had this printed. Two sets actually sell and my bank account is that much emptier.

Then you have to deal with the people that don't care and will just straight up take it if they can get their hands on it. Nice guys.

System 2 in general will never be screened unless original films are located and even at that it's doubtful. There are so many hours in the file to make that one it's silly. Way above and beyond just as provided by a member here.

If people want this art, rich @ thisoldgame has the file. If he's up to print it then he knows our arrangement.

I like so many others have a real job, doing game stuff is just something you do on the side. Combine that with health stuff and you just don't get the time you once had. It used to be that people understood what these hobby businesses really were and how hard people worked in addition to their normal lives to provide things, now i'm treated like i'm walmart by a lot of the newer crowd. Takes the wind out of your sails you know? I do know and acknowledge that since my radiation treatments my short term memory has been challenging for me so many times I catch an email on my phone but by the time I get home it's slipped away that it was there. That is frustrating as hell for me (try it not being an email but simply forgetting why you went to the store), but it's just part of life now for me. The products I produce are as good or better than they've ever been, I just need patience on my side now and again.

Kspiff, I was unaware your white vinyl did not arrive. Delivery confirmation says it did. If you wish, I will reship it to you or I will refund your money.

Brian,

Thanks for the explanation and I'm sorry to hear about the frustration in selling this stuff. Sucks to hear there are guys with either no patience or no respect for your time. I've been in the hobby since '99, so not in the newer crowd, but I honestly thought you printed the art to order. Well, the larger stuff that's not precut anyways.

I think part of this comes down to confusion as to why something is printed solvent inkjet, but showing Out of Stock on the site. I honestly didn't understand why.

I hope the folks who have treated you like Wal Mart don't make it too sour for you. You're time, dedication, and attention is very much appreciated in the hobby and by me personally.

It's not a problem. I'm over it. I'm in Saudi Arabia right now making $600 per day, so I ain't hurtin' over the $70 or however much it was. And I get my mail sent to my work for convenience, so if a package goes rogue here and there I can't do much about it. I think this is the first one that I didn't get since I've started having my mail sent there though.

I didn't realize that gamestencils was your sideline btw. Or about the chemo. Not sure I'd really say that I apologize, but having had close friends and family go through the same thing only to land on death's doorstep, I will say that I hope you are on the road to recovery. You always seemed like a cordial guy, and I certainly enjoy seeing the new stuff you come out with.

I meant no disrespect by starting this thread. I did so out of curiosity. This is going to be first complete restore and I was attempting to get as much info as possible on the art. I had seen system I art done, I had found a link to system II art being out of stock, and noticed there were paperboy CPO's, I had seen similar threads started and work printed, etc. I just wanted to see the reality of the side art coming back.

I didn't understand why or how bits and pieces were available here and there.

Thanks for the explanation. I wasn't trying to step on your toes. I was just curious.

I am sorry you feel as though you are treated poorly by the "newer" crowd. I don't know how much of this response is directed at the thread and my inquiry or other stuff. I feel like myself and many others are truly grateful for the work you and others like you do. Without your time and efforts this hobby at the level we collect and restore would not be possible.

Don't apologize because he has a bad attitude, you we're simply asking a question about finding art.
If he didn't have a million posts, people would be jumping all over him for that response.
Completely uncalled for.

Oh let it go, if I were undergoing chemo I'd probably lose my f'n mind and have some sort of Spaeth-like meltdown way more significant than an off-the-cuff comment like that.

Even inkjets can go out of stock from time to time.
materials need to be stocked as well to keep these types of things going
and it can be expensive to not only stock all these materials
but to stock art that may just sit on a shelf when youve forked out proably 6 times the amount of just 1 set at 70bucks on multiple sets or on just a roll of GOOD 3m vinyl.

and must say I feel for where ProK is coming from on this and for the majority of us this is just a side business and a hobby just like everyone else. We just happen to be able to make these parts and arts available as we can or even as we need them ourselves.

Friendly posts are fine to help bring back a product and show theres still interest in continuing to make/stock an item screened, inkjetted, or stenciled.

If someone wants to start an interest or preorder list, I'll take one set for my Paperboy resto.

I see nothing wrong doing a deposit or preorder for something like this.
