i have two system 1 cabinets - (lets call them cabinet 'A' and cabinet 'B'). My indiana jones is in cabinet 'A' but cabinet 'B' is in a little better shape so i want to swap the guts.

the issue that i have come across is that the volume board in cabinet 'B' is an earlier design and does not have a connector that cabinet 'A' has - the JCDL connector. The wiring harness in both cabs have the connector, but it just isnt attached to anything in cabinet 'B'.

Cabinet B plays roadblasters fine and cabinet A had played roadblasters (and now Indy) fine. but i dont want to assume that i can just swap all of the boards and be okay, as i plan on switching the Mobo as well (again, all later revisions than what is in cabinet 'b' currently.

any help is appreciated. i have stopped the swap until I find out more info.

Not quite sure why you want to swap out anything other than the cartridge, cp and marquee. Swap these between the two cabs and you should have effectively changed your road blasters to a Temple of Doom and your Temple of Doom to a road blasters. This is generally how system 1 cabs were designed to work. The only one that may cause you problems would be marble madness due to the track balls and the need for the mother board with the correct chip to support this function.

the reason that i want to swap everything out is that i have had the indiana jones running for over a year with no issues. the better cabinet has hardware that i have only put about 10 hours on. Could be perfectly fine, but with my luck, i would swap over just the indy pcb and 2 weeks later the motherboard fails..

just so you know: my luck = long lines at the supermarket and a wobbly wheel on the shopping cart.
