Atari Star Wars upright in Phoenix, not booting, make an offer.

EDIT: It is fixed but we're still interested in selling it as a working unit, because we can't operate equipment this sensitive month in and month out.

Hi folks.

Okay, we give up.

I'm a pretty good repair-minded guy, but after a controller rebuild that finally had me smiling from ear to ear at the performance of this thing, it went less than a day before failing to boot. We're way upside down on it, but it doesn't matter. It has to go. Our floor needs to have working equipment that earns money, never mind how much of a sentimental favorite Star Wars is.

Until EARLIER TODAY this thing worked. The monitor probably could have used a cap kit but the unit was 100% functional. I have no idea what happened to make it stop working because I wasn't at the shop when it quit. It doesn't play blind, it just doesn't boot at all. There's nothing unusual about the unit otherwise, it is pretty much all original issue other than the internal gears and pots from the controller rebuild. Still has the PCB cage, original wiring, and all that.

You'll have to pick up in Gilbert, AZ (near Phoenix). We can help you load.

Name a number. If the number doesn't hurt my soul too much, it's all yours. /cry

EDIT: I suppose I can just part it out. But if someone wants to have one intact to try to restore, well, the sideart is complete and in really good shape, so it seems like it would be a waste to dismantle it.

I don't think in this case parting it would get you max value anyway. At this point it could be a monitor, pcb, a/rII, power brick, or all of the above problem. I'm sorry to say, nothing could be sold as working, without further testing in another cab, etc.

That is a nice looking cab, anyone know if 1blind is still coming through arizona, and norcal? (too late?)

The flight yoke is 100% and in spectacular shape. I could sell that by itself and make most of what I am being offered at this point. (Though I have had some OK offers I am considering, I am checking to see just how much effort we want to put into this. One of our owners says if we stand to lose this much on this unit -- we paid $1750 -- he will just take it home and restore it himself.)

$1750 is one expensive upright Star Wars.

Edit: Sorry, hope that didn't come across as price-policing. I know you didn't say you are asking that for it. It's easy to get upside down in these things when you restore them though!

I've seen this machine in person. It's in really nice physical shape. I hope you guys are making fair offers. DON'T LOWBALL HIM, MAN!!!!!1!! :D

Which monitor does this thing have?

I can see red on the sideart - if that isn't faded on either side, you have a very nice cabinet, from what you've shown. It'd be a shame to part it or sell for too little, in my opinion.

Hi again guys,

Welp, a local nice guy fixed it! I had written off fuse issues after trying replacements and having it still not boot, but he took a look at it and realized that the fuse holder rack had some worn connections that must have finally given out. We replaced them and the unit is back at 100%. It still could use a cap kit but I'm not god damn touching it for now. It works!

Because of having it up and down and up and down, though, we're still interested in selling. You'd be welcome to come check it out and satisfy yourself as to condition, inside and out.

For those who asked:
- The monitor is an Amplifone.
- The sideart still has deep, rich reds.
- There are casters on the bottom.

We bought this originally from Tim the Arcade Guy in SoCal. I know we overpaid a bit, we didn't really know what we were doing and it was one of our first buys for DSG, and we just wanted something that absolutely, positively worked. For a while it did really well. After some controller pot issues, a rebuild settled that too and we were back at 100% with the unit working better than ever. This power thing though, would have had me stumped entirely if one of our customers hadn't figured it out. So that was a lucky break.

So anyone who wants to make an offer on a working unit, send it my way!

And thanks Yotsuya for lookin' out for a brother :)

If its got an Amp in it, then your not terribly upside down.. As I sold a Star Wars last year with an Amp for $1500ish.. But everything was rebuilt (monitor, ps, yoke, new artwork on yoke and marquee), plus it had a ESB kit. Good luck with the sale.
