I am wondering if anyone reproduces the speaker grills for Atari cabinets, cabarets in particular? I assume not, but then there are a few companies who sell Midway speaker grills, so who knows? I recently made one by hand, but not only is it tedious to do, it is hard to get the lines perfect, hard to have the edges not look jagged, etc. I did alright on my first attempt, but I'd much prefer a laser or CNC cut grill with a smaller hole pattern like the originals. Here is the one I did:

vs. an original:

It looks like they also rolled the edges on the factory ones to take away the jaggedness and sharpness. If I have to do another one myself I certainly will, but I am just checking to see if there is a better option out there.

maybe cut with a friction blade on a miter saw & sand edges to give a rounded appearance?
none of the speaker grills i have that are from atari machines have rolled edges

Well you can see holes on the side/edge of the original grill I posted. That tells me that they did roll the edges, at least on the cabarets.

This was one of the harder things I've had to source but mostly because I didn't know what I was supposed to be searching for. The keywords are "perforated aluminum." It usually comes in big sheets that you can cut with tin snips and paint to match. Mine looked more like your first picture but I bet if you look around you can find smaller diameter holes easily enough.

So... there are a lot of options here.
Which one(s) are the right ones?

And did you buy it here and have it painted/powercoated afterwards?

What I'd do if I had time, and I don't is.. use the digital calipers from Harbor Freight and measure the hole spacing and approx hole size on original screen. See if MC has something close. I wouldn't be surprised either way.

i am unsure what you mean by "rolled" ?

anyway, closest thing to what Atari used on the centi cabarets that i see on the MC web store site would be the .06" /16ga. aluminum with staggered holes 1/16" / .0625 dia. x .125" ctr to ctr

part number 9232T141 (aluminum)

or if steel is desired

part number 9255T345 (steel)

i guess it would depend upon how they are measuring their ctr to ctr dimension, but factory used something around .0685" inside to inside + .0625 = .130 ctr to ctr so the .125 is as close as they get to it and thats pretty damn close, mine is powder coated so that may be why my measurement is off a tic

some of the ones i have are steel and were rusty so hence the powder coating, the cabarets used aluminum which i had powder coated too

pictures are of grills from a centi cabaret & another unknown 80's atari cab (probably pole position)
