So I've come here seeking help.
This is my very first ever arcade cabinet and my first time restoring and working on one.
I have an Atari Showcase cabinet that was origibally gauntlet 3D.
It was converted to tekken 5 and now I'm attempting to convert it into a multiboard/Pandoras box cabinet.
Here's my problem however.
The control panel has a metal under carriage (if that's the right term) with the button configuration punched out. Sadly it won't support the style I want (6 buttons and start buttons for player 1 and 2)
I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion as far as replacing or even building my own for the cab.
I'm replacing the lexan/plexiglass and I'm as well ordering new buttons and joysticks but another problem is the metal carriage has the hinge that opens the panel.
Any suggestions would really help.

To do it right you would need someone to cut out the control panel, then weld in new sheet metal. You could then cut hole pattern to fit your needs. Others have used bondo in the holes and then re-drilling holes as you need. Bondo would be the do it yourself version but would not hold up to a lot of cutting.

That makes a lot more sense then.
I'd try the bondo method but I really want to go all out for this cabinet.
I also am wondering about having the hinges removed from this and put back on my new sheet any suggestions on that?

My 2 cents:

Just put 6 buttons on a side. No need to put all that stuff like a spinner, trackball, etc - the Pandora plays those games with a standard joystick, and buttons 4, 5, and 6 can be wired in with a kick harness.

Personally, I think MAME cab control panels can get a bit overboard with 4 players, spinner, trackballs, extra buttons, etc.
