I have an Atari Roadblasters. The left pedal has to be depressed very hard to operate and the right doesn't work at all. I have taken these things apart and they seem to have a pressure pad of some sort in the bottom with a little pile of sticky goo on top that I assume the pedal is supposed to press against the pressure pad and push the pedal back up when you release it. The pile of goo on both pedals has flattened out causing the problems. If I remove the pile of goo I can operate the game by pressing the pressure pad with my finger. What can be done to cure this problem? I thought of making a cone shape out of silicone caulk in a funnel and trying to trim it to the proper height. Would this work or is there another way?
Thanks

very odd. It sounds like you have a badlands style pedal in there. Normally roadbalsters has a pedal that turns a pot.

this is what a normal RB pedal looks like

the badlands pedal used a gel to push a switch. There is no replacement..

If thats what you have, I would swap it to a proper RB pedal. Then your only problem will be developing a dead spot on the pot..

someone posted a while that you can use a RB style pedal on badlands. I have not tried it, so I can t say it will work. But I don't think you will find replacement parts to fix those badlands pedals.

I second this. My RB pedal turns a pot, no gel pads. Heres some pics of the resto. My pot was fine but these are easily replaced if needed. Same goes with mounting clips and springs (which I did replace). What you wont find is the bushings, I had to reuse mine.

The StarTech Journal fix is to put in a switch. Most people only go off or full throttle anyway.

mammyrat,

If you want the StarTech article with schematic PM me.

I have the same issue... I have two Roadblasters pedals to try out, but have not gotten to that project totry them out yet though.

I finally got around to fixing the pedal. I took a cone shaped paper cup like from an office water dispenser and made a cone out of silicone, let it cure for a couple of days and then gave it a final trim for size and it worked. So good that I repeated it for the other pedal which was working but looked liked probably not for long.
Thanks.
