I have been working on a X&O football and someone in the past had cut a few of the wires from the connector and soldered directly onto the rf shield board. I have had a few Atari and kee games where the shield had just been left off and the harness connected directly to the board. What is the real purpose of the shield and does it really matter if it's there? I have a new connector and would like to install it and correct the wire harness hack.
Thanks
Travis

It's just used to filter Radio Frequency waves that may 'disrupt' communication signals around you. There's a story out there that Pong would mess up Police scanners BITD, I don't know. I was required by the FCC sometime long ago. Either way, you don't need it to run the game.
