Atari proto controller either star wars, bradley, or both

I was moving stuff around and I had a chance to take pics of it.. I got it from an ex atari employee a long time ago..

It has the extra fire buttons like bradley. Has side to side movement. Pretty sure early version of star wars was going to have side to side movement..

I think the bradley trainer was suppsed to have a 2nd person position. I would imagine turrent control for bradley. But either it was missing on the trainer that was found or it was dopped..

Here are pics..

Definitely a Bradley gunner controller. The turret control was a single type joystick. I would say this went with the development of the BZ modified Bradley gunner.

The pushbutton doesn't look like the type Atari typically used if I'm seeing that right. Even for test purposes, I wonder why?

That definitely wasn't off a Battlezone cabinet.

The Winter 2000/2001 issue of Syzygy had an article about the Bradley Trainer with several photos:

Pretty sure the bradley that scott got had a cable insde that was not connected. It probably went to something else. Either another unit or maybe to a remote operator..

Two people who would know about the controller are rick (it came from his office) and otto (who probably designed it). You can see the bradley trainers control was far different than the star wars contoller. I read they were given the actual bradley controls and thats probably whats on the game.

Yeah, the yellow push button does not make much sense.. When atari uesed test switches, they were usually tiny buttons.

Plus, that's a "modern" microswitch button. Those probably weren't around when the rest of that fixture was build. My thoughts.....at some point, someone was using that fixture for something other than what it was built for.......and they needed a convenient "start" button:D.

maybe it something used on stunn runner? Another possibility is the guy I got it from added the button for his own use.. I will have to ask him next chance I get.
