I had just rebuilt the two AR board boards and got my pole position working about 1 month ago, this weekend started it up and it had some doted lines at the top, when to the back and saw smoke.

One of the AR boards fried 3 resistors, R29, R6 and R7. I had tested these before and where all in spec. Before I place the three resistors back in thought I would see if anyone else had experienced this before and see if there was something I should check to find out why this happened.

Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Go to YouTube and type Pole position power and cooling. A forum member called Supertechnoboy made a video about this. Search my pole position forum for the link too. Maybe you can help me on my issue.

For what its worth.... When i fixed mine I did the test point mod using 16ga wire to make sure the 5v was getting where it had to go (making sure each board was properly fed from its repsective feed since each ar powers one board), then did the sense mod on both ar's to stop the resistors from frying.

The "proper" fix is to repin the edge connector but honestly even doing so I would still do the other mods as well. The sense mod is easily reversible and the test point mod its simply because at its best the edge connector was marginal in delivering the current needed to run the boards.

Yes but I like overkill :)

Also forgot to mention I used molex plugs on the test point mod so the boards can still be removed. I also reversed the plugs for each board so that I didnt mix up which was which.
