How hard are these things to get parts for? Flipper rebuilds, pcbs...mostly concerned about the boards....mpu power etc.

A couple parts are tricky to get for the boards, but most of them are common items and/or have substitutes available. Easier to source parts than System 1 gottlieb's, that's for sure.

Good to know. Cursory search turned up nothing but pop bumper caps and a coil or two. I figured could probably just retrofit with more common parts for flipper mechs/pops/slings if absolutely necessary.

It was a Superman for 200$ passed on it. Playfield was good wearwise, but had broken plastics, broken standup targets, broken pop bodies and rings, backglass had flaked off a big chunk, entire left side of the cabinet was painted white or stripped, and there was what looked like rust spots on the PCBs....

Top it all off, one of the local resellers, iTechArcade, showed up, tried to intimidate my wife out of buying it by asking her if she knew what she was doing, that she might be getting in over her head, that he does it for a living, that he would pay more than the asking price, could resell it for 3500$ (LOL!!) when he's done doing a few things to it...

I.

Hate.

Dallas.

..but he really couldn't sell it, fully restored for that..? That sounds ridiculous.

Bostonpinball has 47 tracked sales.. 921 average, 295 low, 2900 top.

No, I don't think he'll get 3500$ for it. I do think that I'm going to start a new philosophy though...if I can get a machine under the price they have listed as the minimum, I'm going to buy it if it's complete, regardless of condition.

If I had know that guy was there and I had been there, I would've bought it just to make sure he didn't get it, but only found out about it being him and him being a dick after my wife had left.

That's absolute crap on the part of the iTech guy. She should have forced him to pay more for it by saying she would take it for $200. Then the rat would have had to step up and pay more than the asking price.

Or even better, buy it for the $200 and then tell the tech he could have it for $400. Put his ass on the spot.

Anyway, deals are popping up everywhere in Dallas lately it seems.

Save your cash and come to the TPF swap meet. I know for a fact that there will be plenty of project EMs and SS at the swap meet this year.

I'm bringing a couple myself.

If I had any room to store it, I would've told my wife to buy it and let him rot...

I'm half considering hauling my Capcom big blue up to the swap meet at this point, if I don't get it sold by then. It's a great machine with some cosmetic issues, but works great. I've got it up on CL for more than it's worth, was expecting to get some lowball offers and haggle but no bites, lol. Apparently we're only hungry enough to fight over pins here in Dallas.

Hoping to see a few super widebodies for sale, but not holding my breath. This was probably my best shot at a reasonable price... gotta look at the other games...really only looked at the PF's for Superman and Future Spa. I like them both, but haven't seen any FS's for sale locally or otherwise.

What a scumbag. Kind of a moron too. You don't want the seller overhearing you spouting off about a totally ridiculous resale price. People generally don't like being taken advantage of.

Apparently he didn't care. Sold it to him for 200$ and gave him a lawnmower too from what my wife tells me. Apparently the pins belonged to the guy's dad or something. I think he just wanted the unit cleared out and get a few bucks out of it in the process.

Something annoying, but guys, if you have someone else go scout pins for you, make sure they understand that "plastics" means the art pieces. My wife said all the plastics were broken, that was the last straw on this pin because I knew they'd be impossible to replace. She was talking about pop bumper bodies, lane guides, and standing targets. Doh! It still would've been a ton of money to get that thing in good playable condition though, so I'm over it, but I still want a super widebody. =F
