I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light on a video issue I'm having with my Atari Paperboy. Everything works fine, however, the colors are not accurate, and it has completely lost the ability to produce yellow (yellows are just white, and the first house that is supposed to be orange is light pink). I have read somewhere that this is typically the video ram chips that have failed and will cause this issue. These are the 6116p-3 ICs and there are 12 of them on the video pcb. Is there anything else that can cause the colors to be off like this?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

jmike, an initial check offered by a noob at this, so maybe you tried it already - check the molex connector to the boards - sometimes, the connection is not being made which may cause one of the color sets to be lost. Wiggle the connection from the monitor to the PCB at the PCB (put a mirror or have someone watching the front) to see if you get any change.

I purchased this machine in non working order and had a guru friend of mine go through it to troubleshoot the issues, got it working and actually replaced the video cable with a brand new one, which did clean up some other video shadowing that was going on, and replaced the monitor but the colors are still askew. Some of them are correct, such as the black of the street, and the grey of the sidewalk, but as stated before the yellows are completely absent, such as the welcome mats on the houses are just white instead of yellow and the text at the top of the screen and on the high score table that is supposed to be yellow, is just white, and reds and oranges all have a pink hue. I'm not getting any RAM errors in test mode, and if this indeed a RAM issue, could one or more of these be faulty even though they are not causing an error?
