I have an early Asteroids that I restored but I'm missing the coin box. Where these unique to owl eyes? Can someone post a picture?

The lid of course would be, due to the orientation of the incoming coins being 90 degrees different than regular coin doors. The box itself I think are the same size as (I want to say) Battlezone and Missile Command. I'm not sure if they had minor variations due to the coin orientation though. My Lunar Lander sadly just has a cardboard box for a coin box.

The LL / early AST coin box is off-white. The black ones that look similar don't seem to fit.

Canyon Bomber, Lunar Lander, same box.

Yeah, ok. That's the exact one I'm looking for. For Atari Baseball and Basketball. And I think the Breakout cocktail. I forgot which games exactly.
But I know for sure I need more than one with lid and handle. And I know that that's the correct one.

Is there a thread dedicated for identifying coin boxes? I need two for Atari pinball machines (Atarians, and Airborne Avenger) one for Atari Night Driver, and one for a Gorf.

The two Atari pinball games use OWL eye coin doors.

I have one of those black ones but it doesn't fit my lunar lander. Maybe we need some real measurements?

Dunno, fits in mine. The machine has the upright locking tab behind it that the lid fits over and the side-guide wood strips on the shelf. What I think of as the 'typical' Atari coin box set up from this period. I only have Asteroids, LL and Canyon Bomber in the building at the moment to look at but they're all the same.

Will you post some pictures of the box without the lid? Specifically around the metal tab.

Lunar Lander. And I just remembered that my Asteroids is also a LL cab, but I'm certain this is the original coin box for LL and Canyon Bomber.

Interesting. Could it be i put it in backwards? 🤔

I kept trying to make the metal bracket go through the notch. Something to check when i get home tonight.

Yes, check that. Those ramps are for the quarters to roll down, away from the chutes.

The sad thing is that i know that. Maybe i just focused on the stupid notch in the plastic? Anyway, I'll know in a few hours if I can switch from looking for a box and lid to just looking for a lid 🙂

Sure enough, the cash box i bought did fit. The reason it didn't work before was the carriage bolt was too long. It hit the cash box regardless of orientation. After cutting the carriage bolt back 1/4" or so and it fits great now.
