I just replaced the track ball in my Centipede with a standard cue ball and it works great. In looking online at cue balls it seems there are an awful lot of custom graphics put on cue balls. It got me thinking... did anyone ever sell an Atari cue/track ball? I couldn't find any online but I'd love to get one with at least one Atari logo on it... preferably though, I'd like one logo on the top and one on the bottom.

So... has this been done in the past? If not, anyone up for a project? ;)

-EDIT-
we have in DK a quite famous billard/pool manufacturer (http://www.soren-sogaard.dk/) where you can order stuff online, and i think ill give them a call on monday, and hear if it´s possible (lagal) to make ball´s with logos on instead of numbers, maby they can point me in some direction??

Guess there are only a couple of us game geeks who think this would be cool then. :crazy_pilot:

I've got emails into two different places to see what kind of money they charge for making their "custom balls". :D (or would that be "balls custom"?)

might be cool if the art was not on the surface where it would get rubbed off. I'd probably want it like a 1/4 in deep or so. I think the wear from game play would probably destroy a clear coat relatively fast so I'd think you'd need to have a new ball made rather than add onto an existing one IMO

or maybe rather than paint or screening on a logo someone could engrave the trackball with the art then fill with a colored plastic, clear coat and of course smooth.

The two places I emailed actually "inlay" the custom graphics somehow and they guarantee it won't come off during normal billiards play(which I consider more harsh than being used as a track ball).

What a cool idea. An Atari logo on the ball itself. Nice!

I have several thousand of the 2.25" "snow white" balls in stock....it's a real SLOW seller, btw.

Maybe the addition of a logo would help move them. LOL

I'd love for someone like yourself Dave to take on this project since you are a stickler for quality. :D The companies I emailed aren't going to do any favors with pricing either... that's for sure.

The way you get pricing down per part is buy a large number all at once. I've been able to leverage pricing on pretty much everything from round metal bar stock and switches to plywood and vehicles.

Have you sought out any vendors to make these logo balls? If so, what kind of numbers are you seeing?

Dave

If this does not get done by yourself or someone else, I'll take a look at it as soon as I finish up some of the larger projects I've got running right now. Logo on a ball = easy!!!

Heard back from the company I was hoping to hear back from.

The regular price is $34.95 per ball with shipping being another $7.00(for up to two balls).

The wholesale price is half that at $17.50 with a minimum order of 16 balls.

I want to try and get a sample to make sure they are acceptable first though.

here is another option.. i am not sure of the exact size of the ball, but the guy can inlay anything you want.. so if you could get an atari logo pin, he could put it inside the ball..
