atari liberator

There are a few members of the forum that own a Liberator, myself included. It is one of my favorite games to play and gets decent attention from other folks even though it was not a pop culture icon like Pacman or Qbert.

I just scored this one last weekend. It looks like a fun game. I was looking for something else on the excursion and ended up seeing this one is darn near mint shape. Not sure if I will keep her or not yet, but once I saw how nice the condition was, I could not pass it up. And it did not hurt that it is Serial #7, with only 3300 or so plays.

Wow! Did you get a great deal on it or did you have to really reach into your pockets? Great cab and the game isn't bad either!

Liberator

I have one. Great game. I cannot decide if I like Liberator more than MC but the games have similarities. I think the reason that it never got popular when it cam out was: It will take your quarter in seconds until you play it a few times. Very difficult until you get the rythym of the game. Most people would just move on.

i've never actually seen one in the flesh before, but i watched a video on youtube last night of it. looks similar to missile command, but i'm gonna give it a couple plays at funspot next week and see how fun it is.

Yep, it is somewhat of a sequel to Missile Command. Rumor had it that it was supposed to be a super version of Missile Command, but they didn't want it to compete with the actual Missile Command. I remember reading about this game in Joystik magazine back in the day. They were reviewing games with a beauty pageant theme and the called Liberator "Miss Ile Command".

Anyhow, I like it, very challenging, and can be really hard. I am plateaued right now and cannot get past 200,000.

I just watched the promo/press video atari did for liberator last night.. They lay out a storyline for the game and talk about various level difficulty..

Has anyone gotten to highest level (16?) of difficulty? That looks insane..
