Atari iPad joystick

Thanks kind of slick... Wife wanted an iPad for Mothers Day. I didn't really care about it, but I've been using it more than her. There is already an Atari arcade compilation out for it with a bunch of games, including vectors like Gravitar and Black Widow.

The thing about the Atari compilation on the iPhone/iPad is that the games themselves is an 'in App' purchase. Which means it doesn't seem to sync between the different devices you have on a single account.

Very sad moment when I discovered that once I got off the iPad I bought it on and onto my iPhone that I had the basic Atari application but none of the games and it wanted me to spend another $15 (which I didn't do.

At least I did the purchase on my iPad and not on the iPhone or I'd be really unhappy...

You only have to pay in one place. I bought on my iPhone and was able to get all the stuff on my iPad without paying again.

My biggest complaint with all these iPadcades is that you're pretty much paying the cost of building a multicade yourself just for the stupid iNotacomputer. :|

I've got an iPhone 4, and I love it, but it can make calls and actually be useful most places. HAving an iPad when you have an iPhone is a bit redundant, and too damn expensive for what you get, IMO. :|

Interesting... then I should find out why it isn't working for me.

I have my wifes iPad and iPod Touch synced on the same computer. I haven't tried all the apps, but it looks like it did sync all the iPod apps onto the iPad. The old games I tried did work.

It replaced an ancient laptop computer for us, and I initially felt the exact same way as you. I like it way more than I expected. The iPhone style on-screen keyboard actually works pretty well when the keys aren't microscopic and its ability to stream Netflix and HBO with a good picture and decent sized screen is pretty nice.

I'm not an Apple guy at all, and I'm glad we went with this over a less expensive netbook, which was my first inclination.

I'd prefer an interface that I can hook up my old Suzo Competition Pro joystick to. And then run A8 emulation and MAME :D

I used to feel that way. The PSP broke me of it... After running MAME and SNES emulators on it, and avoiding firmware upgrades that would break that ability (at the time), I asked myself what the hell I was doing always trying to run ancient software on current hardware.

Now I just use MAME on the MAME cab and let the new gadgets do their new-school thing. :D

Sync the iPad to your computer... Then sync the iPhone to the same computer w/ the same account... Bet it works.

But, this is good info to know because we bought my son a generation 1 iPad and wanted to purchase some of the Atari games.

Actually, the syncing didn't work, but I figured it out. I synced the devices, then ran the app on both, then both the $15 package on one, which wouldn't then sync. I had to delete the app on the device I didn't buy it on, then resync it to reload it, then run the app, which checked and saw I had an previously made an in game purchase and asked me if it was a reinstall (yes) and if it should reload the purchase. I actually made a thread about it earlier today with a little more info:
