Atari Inc. Business is Fun now available for immediate shipping

After a very long process and a lot of starts and stops, the book is finally available for immediate purchase and shipping.

The full detailing of Atari from its primordial incubation within the hallways of AMPEX from 1969 to it colossal rise up to a $2 billion juggernaut and its $538million death spiral and split up by June 1984.

This a full detailing of Atari, its details and days from Winchester Blvd to its Corporate HQ in Sunnyvale, CA. there is a great deal of details of the stories and history, told directly by the employee's themselves, cross-checked with many other employee's and backed by memo's, court documents, rare and never before seen photo's, all detailing Atari's days of struggles and triumphs.

With nearly 300 pages of photos, docs and materials included in this 800 page book, you will get an in-depth read of Atari's coin-op, research, consumer, computer, marketing and much more. Plus very detailed side-stories on things such as "Rick Rat's Big Cheese Restaurant" which would become "Chuck E Cheese", Atari's very own "Xerox PARC" research center in the Sierra Foothills where their first project with a wireless Pong arcade machine! to details on Atari's far reaching and near disasterous global expansion and management changes that nearly put Atari out of business in 1974 before it even got off the ground. Another important story, one not even properly told in Walter Isaacson's "Steve Jobs" book is the accurate and fully detailed history of Steve Jobs employment at Atari, the REAL story behind Breakout and what happened, including direct information from Steve Wozniak who contributed to that chapter.

If you love Atari, or have a friend or family member who does, this will make THE perfect gift for yourself or someone else:

Hi,

Will be doing Hardcopy color edition in early 2013. Kindle version will be up on Amazon in 5-7 days according to them. We will also have an iBook version out early next year as well with lots of multimedia incorporated into it.

800 pages, wow! That's awesome. Just ordered a copy, too. I've been waiting a while on this one. Marty has had some really great columns in Retro Gamer lately. It's too bad he's such an egomaniac/tool (at least he was to me on atariage).

nice, 800 pages is alot of reading. but i am sure its gonna be a great read!

Hi Marty is a stickler for an argument... I can't really be in a position to say much myself, I've had my moments where I've come off like a complete ass, but I try to realize what I do wrong, admit it and hopefully not repeat it again. Marty is a good guy and I truly enjoy doing research with him, we feed off each others enthusiasm and we really get in sync and go on the hunt when we are digging for facts and information. He's a good friend.

Well, its more or less about 500 pages of content and nearly 300 pages of images, sketches, photo's (many rare and never seen before, especially inside shots of Atari during its very early days) memo's and court documents.

We have a nice section called "Balls of Steel" that talks about Atari's Pinball Division and have a really nice gallery of backglasses, playfields, and the unreleased prototypes.

Wow. Looking forward to the hardcover/color edition.. I'm sure the images are high quality for b&w, but probably are spectacular in color

i got ready to buy a copy, then i thought with it being so close to xmas that it would be in my best interest if i just tell the wife about it so that she can get me something i want. So i sent her a link to the website. But apparently, she did a little research and found out that you get free shipping with amazon.com. so i will have a copy under the tree for xmas

So the currently available edition is black and white only? Huh. I guess I'll wait for the hardcover too - it's worth the extra to get as many pics in color as possible!

Yeah, if that's true, why would anyone buy it in black and white?

Will the Kindle version be B&W or color? Do you know what that will cost when it's released? This seems interesting for sure.

Will the hardcopy/color edition be the same price? I may wait for that since I want the color pictures It sounds like a great read.

We are looking at a printer for the color version - Amazon/Createspace limit color books for 480 pages. We are looking at around $69.99 for a full color version based on some of the quotes we've gotten back.

As much as I want to jump on this now and have my wife give it to me for Christmas, I will wait for the hardcopy color edition.

Please make sure to update us all when that is available...I'm sure many people will be all over that... :)
