Hey guys, got a question.... Can someone shed light on this for me?

Recently there were ROMS sold on ebay for an atari in-store display deal that seemed like a neat collectible. Fast forward to earlier this week....

Someone locally told me that they have this unit available. He rescued it from destruction at a video game dealer back in 1981. He didn't keep the entire thing, but they did keep controllers, the circuit board (working 25+ years ago), part of the display marquee, the power supply, joysticks (not at all the standard type, but big boxes), etc. It'd have to be wired up, but I think this might be something pretty rare to latch on to.

Anyway, I've stopped my atari collection long ago and have other interests now, but this got me thinking. The guy said he'd sell it, but it'd not be cheap, and I don't even have the foggiest idea of what it is worth. I'd likely buy it to tinker with it, wire it up, play some of the ROM images, and then sell it off.

Can anyone point me in the direction of more information regarding these units? I do have some pictures coming, and it looks fairly simplistic, and even like an early atari arcade style circuit board in a metal cage.

Thanks!

More information Atari POP kiosk

Ok, found it on the internet at atarimuseum.com. Here's a pic they post of it (naturally complete). I found out that it is called an atari "POP" or point of purchase display. All the guy has is the plastic for the front by the joysticks, the controllers (rough) but the circuit board is still intact!

What's something like that worth?

That guy has been trying to sell that 'piece' of a kiosk for a long time. He wants way too much for it considering you'll never find the rest of one. Generally, if the kiosk is complete when you find it you don't need parts to complete it :)
