Hi..new to the board.

I purchased an Atari Hard Drivin machine a few months back. I knew it wasn't working at the time but figured I may be able to figure it out. I didn't realize the schematics would be so hard to locate. I have the larger, sit down machine. Im getting this message on start up "ADSP Board Time Out Error". The machine is in excellent condition, and I'm dying to play it. Any ideas?

Very common problem. What has most likely happened is one or more ram chips have failed on the adsp board (on the 3 board stack, its the one in the middle). Problem is these are obsolete chips and hard to find ( when you do find them, they are about 9 dollars a piece). If you run the self test, it has a way of checking those chips and will show a full screen graphic of which ones are bad. Your best bet it to just get another main board set (should cost you anywhere from 30-100 dollars).

Thanks, other questions

I uploaded an image that shows the adsp RAM check test. I did purchase another board from a guy off ebay yesterday and drove up to pick it up. What I didn't know (but found out when I got it back here) was that it was for the stand up machine, and mine is the sit down version. Do you know if the RAM chips are interchangable? Are they soldered in or snap it? I actually took the old board out and replaced it with the one I picked up. White dots appeared moving all over the monitor. Was told it does not display the same resolution, because it came from a stand up machine.

I don't see any pics uploaded to this thread so I don't know about that. the adsp board should be the same from both the cockpit and the upright. So you should be able to just swap the middle board on the two stacks to get one set up and working. The ram chips should be the same.

sorry

I apologize for not being able to reply right away. I have a small business and sometimes weeks go by before Im able to spend time on the computer for myself. The image I posted was on my profile. I had no idea how to post it on the thread. I did get the game working! The ram on the video board was bad and the new board that I purchased off ebay allowed me to switch. I play it now every chance I get.
