Atari Greatest Hits Syncing between iPad <-> iPhone (solved)

In a thread about the Atari iPad Joystick...

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=187386

I wrote:

The thing about the Atari compilation on the iPhone/iPad is that the games themselves is an 'in App' purchase. Which means it doesn't seem to sync between the different devices you have on a single account.

Very sad moment when I discovered that once I got off the iPad I bought it on and onto my iPhone that I had the basic Atari application but none of the games and it wanted me to spend another $15 (which I didn't do.

At least I did the purchase on my iPad and not on the iPhone or I'd be really unhappy...

And someone answered:

You only have to pay in one place. I bought on my iPhone and was able to get all the stuff on my iPad without paying again.

Well, it wasn't working for me. I found out why, and thought I'd share in case it solved anyone else any grief.

I did a search and found this page:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4009

Transferring an In-App Purchase -- Subscriptions and replenishable In-App Purchase cannot be transferred or synced to another iOS device. Non-replenishable In-App Purchases and auto-renewing subscriptions can be transferred to another iOS device authorized with your iTunes Store account. For example, if you transfer a game from an iPhone to an iPod touch, only the game levels will sync over, the extra ammo and experience points will not be transferred.
Um... Then I figured maybe I should just delete the App from my iPhone and resync. I was going to delete the App from iTunes and quickly decided that was a bad idea.

So I deleted it from my iPhone, then resynced (reinstalling the application). Then when I ran the Atari Greatest Hits the phone had a pop up saying it saw I had previously made an in game purchase but was running the game for the first time. If said that if I had reinstalled the game, that I could 'reload' my previous purchase. I told it to go ahead, and all was well now. The Ap still had to sync the 78MB of games the first time I play one.

So what happened is that I had synced the App on both the iPhone and the iPad before I made the $15 in-game purchase, and thus the game purchase didn't automatically come over by itself.

Hope this helps someone.
