So I've seen a few references to a kit (possibly a bootleg) that converts Atari Football to Asteroids using the 23" tube somehow. I swear I saw a thread with a pic here awhile back but I can't seem to find it (I'm on my phone right now). I was thinking such a beast might make a pretty good multi vector.

Anyone have any more info?

Never heard of that, but if the 19" b&w vector monitor fits the 23" tube, I wonder how hard it would be to adjust it to display well? I'd rather see a working Football than one hacked to Asteroids, but that might make an interesting custom/conversion..

I had that thread deleted from the internet so no one would think to do such a thing...

Wow . . . learn something new every day! I are the tube degrees the same? Do you have to do anything special to the yokes?

No... vector yokes are pretty simple. And with monochrome tubes you don't have to worry about convergence/purity with a swap.
Changing tube size, as being suggested here, would likely require some chassis mods.

I found this:

It's some bootleg "kit" that even has a copied ARI.. but the coolest thing about it is they used the original 23" CRT and hacked GO5 guts onto it..
Atari should have made them this way, I wish the kit had some side art.

Rotated in that cab 90 degrees makes it look like a 19" tube. I can't measure it until I get home, but off the top of my head I can't imagine the original tube fitting once it's been rotated.
